cheers friendship I have received this year.I'm proud to tell you that this blog now has reached 300.We certainly aren't a very little group of ABBA fans.Thank you for this year and let's all hope for an even better 2008!Now they have pointed out Frida as the woman involved. You can read what she said below....ABBA, and his secret love affair By GLEN OWEN published in The Mail on Sunday Fresh indignity was heaped on Gordon Brown last night after one of the female singers from ABBA was bizarrely dragged into a Government sex scandal. The confirmation came after intense speculation about Sir Alan's private life had been sweeping Westminster. The sources refused to give further details of the affair, including whether it was still ongoing. He is believed to have met her at a charity function in London in the spring of 2006.All I'm going to say is I'm not having an affair with her, you know.I've known her for a couple of years.Sorry, but I'm not going to go there.Home Office spokesman also refused to comment.Initially, Major did well after succeeding Margaret Thatcher, but he lost by a landslide to Tony Blair in 1997 after the economy hit trouble, he was pilloried for his weakness and a number of Ministers were embroiled in sexual and financial scandals. In similar fashion, after succeeding Tony Blair in June, Mr Brown soared ahead of the Conservatives in the opinion polls. But since then, his ratings have been on the slide. One hour later, after a visit to Downing Street, he changed his stance, saying he was convinced by the PM's argument.Mentor, held at the Natural History Museum in London in May 2006.And in April he was snapped, eyepatch again in place, with his arms around author Kathy Lette at the launch of her book How To Kill Your Husband.Appropriately, Lette had placed a dagger in the top of her stockings. His bravery in being the last to leave the sinking ship earned him the Distinguished Service Cross.Benny and Frida were then themselves divorced in 1981.Since 1992, Frida has been officially known as Her Serene Highness after marrying a German count, Prince Ruzzo Reuss von Plauen.Apart from a couple of moderately successful solo singing projects, Frida, the product of a wartime liaison between her Norwegian mother and a married German soldier, has kept a low profile since the group's demise, devoting herself to work with drug and environment charities. It is nothing to do with you. There is no relationship, absolutely not.Do not ask me any more questions.Frida, who is Norwegian rather than Swedish like the three other members of ABBA, moved to Switzerland in 1986.The day of Saint Lucia in Scandinavia is an essential part of Christmas in Scandinavia.Lucia herself was Christian and died for her faith. Each of the Scandinavian countries has similar lyrics, in their native tongues. The celebrations and processions on Saint Lucia Day are illuminated by thousands of candles. It's great to see someone who is a fan getting the chance to talk to them.Agnetha wore and Frida's canary yellow outfit)! Here's a great picture of the pair when they took their walk from Brandenburger Tor to the Reichstag.Thomas in Germany for the photo.Scots on the ABBA discussion board.Charlie Norman will be a variety show director in Gothenburg this fall.Frid Lyngstad from Eskilstuna. It will be a new, great chance for the very talented and beautiful singer. She has, as you might know, worked with Charlie Norman, his son Lennie and Hasse Burman before.Frid has also worked with Charlie during the summer and his musicians.Frid, who comes from Norway, born in Narvik, was only 11 years old when she first entered a stage. Her debut performance was in Eskilstuna, where she has lived ever since she was a little girl. But since then she has had some setbacks when it comes to topping the charts. She has been very close a couple of times, but not succeeded. But many critics claims that she is one of the country's best vocalists. She will be doing it in his variety show at Liseberg. The couple have been together for almost five years now, but kept it private, but now all of a sudden they seem to be ready to show the world their love.Prince Ruzzo Reuss had come to Sweden to visit his old school Lundsberg, where he spent eight years of his life, and to meet the fellow students from the year 1969.Frida and Ruzzo Reuss are living in Fribourg in Switzerland and they also have a summer house in Majorca, but they like to keep in touch with their home country.Norwegian Mette Rinde) are enrolled to go to their dad's old school this fall. But dad won't be away from his children for too long.So naturally I had to try and see what Frida would look like.If you want to try it out, go here.Among the guest were the king and queen of Sweden and of course a lot of Swedish celebrities. After more than 300 years. This time he was welcome.Frida was part of his entourage. The king was in the mood for party.Church just for the Royal Visit.Loshultskuppen 1676 and who had stealen all the copper plates and silver coins from the king.Raoul Hamilton kills the rumours...Frida and the Count of Ovesholms Slott started to spread.Carreras held a charity concert on Count Hamilton's estate, just outside of Kristianstad. After their divorce they have found their way back to each other.Ruzzo and I went to school together ever since we attended Lundbsberg. The King, Carl XVI Gustaf was also prsent at this concert. The warm and gentle Frida...The same eveing when the wotes were all counted in Melodifestivalen 1974.This pic is From VeckoRevyn 1974.Susanna in Switzerland The Hotel, another project of his.Frida had sung Happy Birthday for him.Oh yes, I'm here quite often and now it has a lot of new things.FRIDA chair that he has designed on his homepage.Frida attended a charity concert at Raoul Hamilton's castle in Sweden last night, June 16.Carreras International Leuakemia Foundation and the Swedish Scout Movement. What a relief for us hard core fans who started getting a little worried about Frida's whereabouts when she didn't turn up at the Polar Music Prize Award this year.Great to see Frida out and about and smiling too!In all quietness Frida made one of her rare stage performances at this internationa charity event.Among the others performing were Richard Burton, Miriam Makeba and Mireille Matheiu. The whole show was also broadcasted on French TV afterwards, so Frida could sit at home and watch herself. If you keep up this good work I will have to to hire your as chief of photo editing for My ABBA Blog.Steve who sent it to me.Winter or not I'm sure her smile warms us all. Thanks to Helga for letting me using the photo of Frida here.Click on the pictures for larger versions. She radiates an inner security and is happier than she has been for years. The divorce from Benny Andersson has healed and she has established a distance to that difficult time, which meant she for the first time in her life was totally on her own.Sweden I would slowly suffocate to death, because I felt that there was nothing more holding me back here.Benny was a fact she told an English paper that she had met a new lifepartner. In a way they can also be a work for mourning. For example, it took me a long time to get over a relationship I had.Love is just a struggle and happiness is something you can only get to feel for fraction of a second.I'm terribly afraid a man might only be interested in my money. The money makes me independant, I can live without checking every price tag, but I wouldn't agree that money makes you happy. But they can also mean freedom for Frida to buy clothes from the most exclusive fashion houses, expensive jewelery and trips all around the world. And of course she travels alot.Having her daughter Lotta, 17, in the US and her son Hans, 22 in Sweden it adds up to several long trips every year, Not to mention all the other friends she has around the world.Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, something she would never had agreed to have on her first solo album just after ABBA split up, two years ago.Benny song on this first album, I don't want reviewers writing that she couldn't make an interesting record without the help of her former band members' help. But now I have found myself again and I feel strong.Would like to thank my dear friend Sarah Russel for the two pictures of Frida performing songs from Shine 7 September 1984.Anne in Finland has written this text after reading the Russian articles, thanks Anne!Click on images to enlarge. This was Frida's first visit to Russia.Funnily, about Frida they say that she lives in a house in Switzerland and she is now a grandmother. There's an article in a Russian from an online magazine here.As you know, Frida attended a charity fund raiser by The Sunflower Jam in London on September 14.The pictures were taken by Wendy James! Now it's easy to order your copy of this fantastic tribute to Frida. This book is a tribute to Frida and a celebration of her career before, during and after ABBA.The fascinating story of this talented and enchanting singer is traced through a collection of over 200 photographs, many never seen before. But this photographic journey also guide us through the fashion and zeitgeist of the sixties and seventies up to today. Thanks to a dear friend, Matt, who knows the photographer Wendy James I was given permission to show you all this wonderful closeup of Frida attending the Polar Music Awards earlier in May of this year. The picture of Frida from yesterday that I said was from the Polar Music banquet was not taken from that party. Thanks to Carina for alerting me!Here are some more pictures from yesterday. She describes herself as a stubborn person. It gives a great feeling of security. What is even better is to have that security in yourself. Not having to have that feeling depending on someone else. With everything that includes. She made sure of that before the interview.Frida as most people call her. It's hard work, maybe harder than a lot of other jobs.Everything I ever dreamed has come true.Dreams isn't the right word, she corrects me.There never really was any doubt about what I was going to do.It was inevitable from the beginning. She became a dance band singer when she was 12.And I did for a while, until they disbanded due to lack of engagements.Lots of new experiences was waiting for her.Now I wanted to live alone, sort out my feelings and find myself.I'm so happy about Benny and the children. They are what's most important to me.For a long while I was suffering from not seing my children often enough. But I have realised that I see my children as often as most full time working mothers do.It's working incredible well, because it's someone who we all like a lot.And we wanted to try something new.The really early successes were fantastic. She was a Norwegian war child. Her mother died early, she grew up with her grandmother. And everyone thought her father, who was a German soldier, had died during the war.German pop music magazine, called Bravo which writes alot about ABBA, published our biographies.Someone, who thought the story was familiar, contacted dad and he contacted me.But now we are staying in close contact and I like him.ABBA at all in my private life.ABBA is our job, but when we are at home we relax.Just like everyone else.We listen to backgrounds etc.We do so much ourselves on our records. But since there are others in the group who wants to ration our stage appearances we need to compromise. In the beginning it was hard to be one of four.It has been educational in many ways. You learn about tolerance and consideration and to respect each other. What I personally feel I have to give up now, with ABBA, is something I can make up for later on in life.ABBA will not last forever. We don't have any plans to quit, but it's something we have to be prepared for.STUBBORN PERSONShe describes herself as a stubborn person. That means, she knows what she wants and she is willing to work for it.She wants to dance and she wants to sing. So, of course, she takes singing and dancing lessons three times a week.Singing and dancing is the best way I know to relax, but it's also very usefull for my job.And in singing class I have started singing opera. Not as a pop star perhaps, but in some form. When it's time to do something different there will also be an opportunity to do so.The groups is also often accused of being to commercial. We know now, after so many years in the business, what's popular. And about all the glitter and glamour surrounding the group, I think it's important that all kinds of groups are given a place on stage.Their imagination and their strength in writing and producing ABBA's music.SPOILED WITH SUCCESSFrida talked about the first successes, the joy of them.Has she become used to it, spoiled. That's what keep ABBA going and ABBA is employing 40 people right now. That album will be good. It's always a little nervous to get the audience's reactions to something new. Both psychologically and materially. And I was very insecure before ABBA became successfull.Very unsure of who I was.Not having to have that feeling depending on someone else. The success has simply given me the selfconfidence to be who I am.The goal with ABBA is no longer to be successfull. It's important to continue to develop. To be prepared for new phases in your artistic life. You work for a Christian magazine, are you a Christian yourself? One of my best friends is a member of the Pentacostal Movement.I'm an open person, so why shouldn't it happen to me?On November 6, 1982 ABBA appeared on the Late, Late Breakfast show in the UK.Some of the journalists in the English press says that. The picture on the right and the quote comes from the excellent ABBA On TV site.Once again showed what a great sense of humour, and ability to poke fun at herself, she has. Thanks to T for letting me use this picture here. The content comes from the fabulous Frida DVD.It is part of a collection of her four solo albums.Benny (Andersson) for an Easter holiday.Screaming and crying she finally managed to get down. When Ruzzo passed away I moved here.He helped me alot after my husband had died.We met on a creative level and we understood each other very well.Heinz also talks about Frida as a very honest and trusting friend.Another of her friends is Urs Biner who runs a restaurant where he also performs. Both Urs and Heinz are my dear friends. When Heinz in 2003 went to Stockholm for the Polar Music Prize together with Frida, everyone assumed he was the new man in her life. The photographers gathered around us.Come on, you're my friend! It was like a farewell to the part of my life that belongs to ABBA.ABBA, but not a tour, Frida says.Agnetha and I are in contact, but not very often.Nowadays she doesn't feel the same strong motivation to pursue her musical career.Ruzzo taught me to love.Frida doesn't like to stay out late and party anymore. But sometimes her friend Heinz takes her out to meet people and have a good time.Zermatt has a lot of nice restaurants. Her mother took her to Sweden to escape the rage from other Norwegians after she became pregnant with a German soldier. She worked at Folkan with Lasse Berghagen. She liked to sing jazz and pop and one of her role models were Monica Zetterlund.Sweden became to small for me, Frida says in the interview on the new DVD.I'm very grounded in myself. To be able to do so you must have an inner strength. In 1984 Frida fell in love with Ruzzo Reuss von Plauen, who was more Swedish than his name suggested, his mother was Swedish and lived in Sweden.God, Frida said in an interview in Svensk Damtidning. That is why I've been able to go on.She is a good friend of queen Silvia, who also works with Mentor. This fantastic performance is also included on the DVD.It's a song about getting older. In that song you can find my connection with nature and how I feel about other people. And it also describes how you want to grow and develop from everything you go through.Frida fans, will publish a new book as a tribute to Frida. The publisher is Schwarzkopf. It will have 160 pages and approximately 200 pics in both black and white and in colour.I'm quite sure we will get to see some rare pictures of Frida.Potiez has had some really fantastic photos. The book will be available from 1 May 2006.The three songs alone would, IMHO, be worth the price of the box set alone.Hearing her talk about her life is fascinating. The fact that all clips are complete. When this DVD was first announced I was scared that it would only have snippets of the clips and that Frida (or someone else) would be talking over them.Didn't happen, thank God.Then of course there are some things that could have been better.SVT has erased the original tapes. But still, they deserve to be on the DVD.The art work of the box and the menus on the DVD (they've used the morphing pictures in the menus of the DVD).It's definitely worth waiting for though.Universal will market it in some way.The pictures here are of course from the booklet, click on them so you are able to read the text. The Real Group TODAY 2005 Interview from Zermatt, 2005 I think this will be fantastic.Well, only a few days to go now...Today is Frida's 60th birthday. If a couple of ladies dressed in crinolines with white umbrellas would appear it wouldn't surprise you.But this is definitely not the 1600's.There will be a rock concert here this evening. And Richard Wolf will sing melancholy songs about complicated love. All the artists perform for free and for ideological reasons.Frida is also a member of the board in that organisation. And as an addictive hamburger eater myself it gives me something to think about. And now, all of a sudden, she is here again, on stage.Even if here at Rosenholm it's only to introduce Orup, she will sing on stage at the Stockholm Castle at another music gala. That one is also for the benefit of the environment and with the king of Sweden's approval. The single was just a bit of fun to promote the concert at the castle.BUT AS WE start to talk about her involvement in environmental issues she becomes very serious.Lucky is the one who is able to find seven different species during the later years. That really got me going. And stop being apathetic about everything that is going on around me.And after reading that article, my conscience told me it was time that I did something about it.It was an organisation working for a better environment which wanted to build a network of people from different walks of life.Scientists for the environment).Artists for the environment) came about. She is not very familiar with the Swedish mountains, but there are plenty of mountains in Switzerland as well.Over all I enjoy living close to nature. This thing about the principal of the circle of life. And we talk a language most people understand. What's important to us is working for the knowledge being there. Then it's up to everyone to spread their message the best way they can.The only thing that matters is that you show that you are behind this important message.I'm also a strong believer. It's not like I go to a church. It has to come from a free choice. They have come much further when it comes to sorting your garbage. But what about those scary worms? No, that was more a fun thing, she laughs. But I do have a compost.THE REQUIREMENTS FOR living as you preach must then be fulfilled.I'm only trying to do whatever little I can.It has a lot to do with changes in attitudes and changes in routines.People think it's very hard to change their routines, but it really isn't that hard. It's just a matter of making a decision. No, I prefer to work in a less visual way, more behind the scenes. And I have gotten the best out of it.Imagine the headlines, all over the world.Frida actually looks pentive for a while. But then she shakes her head.ABBA is not interested in doing that.We have developed in different directions these years that we have been apart. The time for our interview is running out.The beech leaves are moving from the sound waves from Orup's music as he is rehearsing on stage. That is something you have to be hopefull about.Otherwise what's the point, give up?It is the real picture of Frida emerging. She acts, sings and cracks jokes.Quite the opposite, she lets the others shine. She is constantly following her script and knows exactly what is going to happen and when.OK that I ask her some questions. To my big suprise she says that it's fine with her. What about parties, have you been the one making speeches etc?And to be honest, it took a couple of months of persuasion. At first I was a little scared. But I do trust Claes a lot so finally I thought, why not, and I said yes.Now I think it's the greatest thing I've ever done. The taping is about to begin.Do you have many questions, she asks. When you think about Frida's background and her development you can't help to get impressed.Soon she is going to America and maybe record a solo album over there.Benny soon will get their musical together. She has been training dancing and singing for something like this for years.Through the years she has developed into a free Woman who can stand on her own.It has been a long road. And a mother who died when Frida was only two years old.Whether she is on stage or is sitting like this right in front of you. Both are fun, but you can't compare them. They are so completely different, Frida shouts back. No, I certainly haven't done that. All we say and do are more or less improvised.Do you have a role model on TV, someone you think is good? This is what I think Frida says, the orchestra is SO loud.Don't worry, Frida shouts, this is the last song.Let's see if we can find some other place to sit down where we can hear what we are saying.Frida finds a calm and quiet room above the the stage.Frida is wearing a pair of tinted glasses, but I can see that she looks me straight in the eye during the whole interview, in a sort of a probing way.In the show you are making some really sharp remarks about the tabloid press. And our private lives are exposed without any respect. They use faked interviews and now, the latest story was that Benny left me because I spend 10.And where do they get it from? Are there any more lies like that has agitated you?But I don't want to talk about them.Frida says and gives me a stern look.Well, but it's mostly about the show, I try to defend myself. But she doesn't look angry at all anymore.Do you have any plans for more tours with ABBA at the moment? No, no plans of that whatsoever. Is being a superstar something that makes you happy? That you have become successfull in your line of work. But apart from that I don't think you are happier than anyone else.Frida looks surprised and smiles. It really seems that it surprises her that some people see her that way.Do you have a favourite group or a favourite song?Wow, there are so many good ones to choose from.In this show there is some really good music that I personally like a lot. This show is aimed at our own age group, which is quite unusual nowadays.Yes, Anita O'day and Ella Fitzgerald were singers I really admired. But I never really sang jazz.At Fasching (a jazz club in Stockholm) that's where they play what I call real jazz. What are you favourites? The she runs out to find one of the girls on the staff who the call was for.She is certainly no diva.Frida comes back and apologizes for the interruption. What is the worst thing in a person you dislike the most?At the airport, at the hotel and everywhere we go.But that's only when we are touring. In her younger days she was the fiancee of the Swedish king. When the king married Silvia, Charlotte and Silvia became very close friends. The funeral was held last week on 7 October 2005.Universal Music has revealed more about the Frida box set that will be released 31 October 2005.The tracklisting of the clips is fantastic! Thanks to Michael and Bernd who has supplied more information. The exclusive interview in FRIDA THE DVD was shot in the summer of 2005, with the glorious Matterhorn mountain top in the background.Frida reminisces about her entire career, her private life, her audience, her friends and about the person she is today.Stenkakan Slog") Gitarzan (SVT Skansen w.Anderson Records Official Video) The Sun Will Shine Again (?Dancing Queen (SVT Queen Silvia's 50th Birthday? This is social problem tha involves more than just drugs. It's about feeling loved. The quote above comes from Frida who was one of the speakers for Mentor before the gala charity performance of the musical Mamma Mia!.Read more about Mentor here.In May 1994 Swedish radio journalist Ulf Elfving got the chance to interview Frida in her home in Fribourg, Switzerland. In the horizon we have the high alps with snow on top of them and closer, in front of us there are some green hills and valleys with small woods and a few houses scattered here and there. Is, and was, the popmusic industry an unnatural environment, which deforms people?Every environment that is limiting like the music industry actually is is naturally not a good place for you in the long run. That leads to trying to close yourself in, so that you can have some kind of privacy resembling a normal life.Benny really wanted to write musicals, and we were no longer two couples. You left the business, you left Sweden, you lived in London for some years. It was just after the divorce from Benny, I guess I wasn't feeling very well. This period gave me the time to go on this quest and so I did for several years.Polar Music) who I still work with is, she is the one I have most contact with. But we don't socialize, since I live in Switzerland and they still live in Sweden, so that's really not convenient. We are sitting here in your magnificent house in Fribourg in Switzerland. What kind of life do you live here today? So this life today feels like a reward for the tough tempo I once was a part of.You have a competely different outlook on life now.Lots of people would love to hear you sing again. And in that room there is only a few of all the ones you got. Why, do you think, did ABBA become so successfull all over the world and why is the success coming back again now?One really strong memory is when we arrived in Australia to do our tour there. From the airport in the city of Melbourne people were standing along the roads with placards and streamers to show us how much they liked us in Australia. Then we were greeted by the Mayor of Melbourne and we had to go out on the balcony, like royals to meet the cheering crowds and wave to them!We didn't have any expectations at all really, and then we get this fantastic welcome it was totally unreal for us four Swedes. What has ABBA meant to you?It meant that I achieved the success I had been striving for ever since I was a child. It meant that I have become financially independent, which wasn't something I strived for, but it was a bonus after the success. And it has given me a freedom which I definitely wouldn't have had otherwise. And apparantly it wasn't only in Sweden.ABBA Fan Club in Australia, where the chairman of the fanclub writes in the magazine, of which he sent me a copy, how good it is nowadays when you can be open about liking ABBA.You had quite a lot of money, and I guess that made many people jealous?Yes, and I think that had a lot to do with it.Since the leftwing movement in Sweden during the 70's, who ruined a lot of things, not just the music scene. But let's not talk politics.Swedish tabloid newspaper) Culture Prize. You sold your stocks in time and got out of the business with more money than any of the others.Benny and I got divorced and I wanted to leave the country due to the fact that I felt all the media were after me all the time.So when I decided to move I naturally went through my finances, that is something I always do very carefully. It was just pure coincidence. In this era of reunions, don't you think ABBA should reuinte?Even though our music is popular again. Most of what we did was recorded in the 70's and it's now 1994.Yes, memories should remain memories.Do you still get fan mail?I'm someone special in some people's eyes. But when you are reminded that you mean a lot that's OK when it comes to your family and private relationships. But this whole thing with the fans is a stage I'm over in a way.Back then the fans was a huge part of our success. So that is why I think it can be a bit intrusive. In which ways do the fans contact you?Well, nowadays it's only via letter.Everyone says how nice Frida is to her fans, but I do think that the fans can be a pain sometimes. Many times you give a little of yourself and it only leads to them wanting more and more. It's totally unnatural to me.So you have had many difficult moments with your fans?Especially since it's something you're not supposed to talk about. But, and I really want to point that out that there are so many wonderful and nice fans who has given me a lot, who has been humble and have been understanding about my situation. It's only the ones who don't have that understanding that makes it very unpleasant. How is it here in Fribourg? Can you go to the market and do your shopping without getting noticed?Back then I had long fiery red hair and now I look very normal, like any woman going to the market to do her shopping. How do you see your future?Yes, especially enjoy what is.And I would definitely not mind getting older here.I've been missing before.Suddenly it was such a joy to work. And what I'm most pleased about is that it's going so well for the four of us.And it's wonderful to work together with Benny. He is always there for me.That it would make you tired of each other when you're together all the time.Benny and I are quite different, and naturally there has been conflicts and missunderstandings sometimes.I'm sensitive and can get depressed, fall into dark periods when everything feels difficult and insurmountable.Last spring, for example, I was having a time like that.Sometimes I have even thought about giving up the singing. And I have become much move even tempered now, calmer.Benny has a lot of patience with me, and with everything. The career comes second.Frid has been married before and has two children, Hans, 10 years old and Lotta, 6 years old.Benny and the children are the best I have. It's very good when you can have that arrangement after a divorce. It has never been a problem for us.We have arranged it the way we both feel is the best for the children.Sometimes they can be with me for weeks. It's good for their father to get some rest every now and then, since he has them most of the time.Hi it's Hans, how are you?Frid and Benny at their house in Vallentuna, where they moved about a year ago.We often take long walks and go skiing when there's snow. It's such a difference to the small city apartment and the air is so much cleaner. But I guess you never know.We are still working on the house. There is still a lot to be done.We did the new upholstery on the couches together and I have been sewing curtains and covers for the furniture. It's mostly me who does the cooking.Benny is not so fond of cooking, but he doesn't mind cleaning. We live like most families in our spare time.We watch TV, talk, read, take walks with our dog.The ceremony itself is really not that important to us, but we want that as well.We do want a church wedding and I want to wear a long, white dress.Especially since we are neighbours here in Vallentuna now.And it's working out great. The first time when we worked together it became quite heated, it was on a restaurant tour a couple of years ago.Back then we didn't know each other that well. But now we have learned to discuss without any hard words among us.We really ought to get a group name.Right now we are working on an album in English together.During summer we will go on tour in the folk parks for three months.During 1969 and 1970 she worked constantly with him.Swedish Television would air that show again soon.It would be a great tribute to Charlie.Frida and Charlie stayed in touch all these years.Babs at his 80th birthday party. And I must have remembered correctly.Because here it is: Thanks to Mattias!Charlie Norman was very popular in Sweden and started his career as early as 1942 with the record Charlie Boogie. In 1947 he played with Edith Piaf in Paris.Bahamas for a holiday and a fashion shoot for the new Swedish magazine Clic.At three o'clock in the afternoon we land.He immediately takes charge over us and our bags and takes us to his big Cadillac, which has seen better days.American cars are parked.Next to the occupied houses there are concrete foundations which are overgrown with weeds.Once we arrive in Powell Point and at our hotel we check in and get all the information we need and the keys to our bungalows. The time difference to Sweden is six hours and our bodies haven't adjusted yet.We unpack our bags and decide to have a late lunch. The children immediately run off to have the first swim in the pool.We walk through the area that have bungalows that all look the same.We continue our walk down to the marina and get to see cool motorboats equipped for deepwater fishing. We have lunch at the marina's club house. We aren't up to do very much more this day so we all go to bed early. You mustn't be in a hurry, because the staff serving us aren't.The initial irritation disappears as the beautiful breakfast is being served.Domestic fresh pineapples, melons, egg dishes, freshly baked bread, fruit juices, great coffee and tea.My passion is to go waterskiing and some of the others love to go windsurfing.Unfortunately there is no equipment to be rented on the island, which makes us a little disappointed. However there is a large golf course on the island. Most of it is located close to the water so there are many golf balls that are lost. The players don't walk on the course as we do in Sweden, instead they have a little golf cart. The cart is so easy to drive, even the kids can do it without any problem. That becomes their big fun and toy during our stay.Warm and lazy days come and go.We find large beautiful shells called Conch. When the sun gets too hot we rest in the shadow of the palm trees in big, comfortable hammocks. One day we want to discover another beach. We decide to go to Cotton Bay, a few miles north.King Bee drives us in his car and entertains us with song and talk. The day has a bad ending.Love happens to step on a sea urchin and lots of its nasty spines are caught in his foot. It's impossible for us to remove them, and with the risk of an infection we have to go to the hospital in Rock Sound.April 16 is a very special day.It is the day when Barbro and Love are going to get engaged, and what could be more romantic than doing that on a deserted island. We rent a fishing boat with a crew and we bring picnic baskets and champagne bottles onboard.Lunch is served with several kinds of sandwiches, fresh fruit and champagne. We take out the present we have smuggled along, we bought it a couple of days earlier in Rock Sound.Champagne corks are popping. He has to work hard to get his catch onboard. It's a fish called grouper. The tail of the fish is lacerated, we think it's some kind of a shark. The kids has their schoolbooks with them and a couple of hours each days are spent doing homework; math, French and English.King Bee keeps us company every now and then and is making attempts to learn Swedish.Everyone is having fun with his way to pronounce the words and he is having alot of fun himself. The existence in paradise unfortunately has to come to an end.It seems like we picked the right time, because today a heat wave has started and it's almost unbearingly hot. With the heatwave a lot of American tourists arrive and the calm is changing into alot of noise. It feels somewhat like a relief to leave Eleuthera this particular day. Here she once again proves her class. But no singer worthy of taking over the legacy after Frida has emerged on the female pop scene.Eva Dahlgren and Lisa Nilsson. And of course we have Carola.Frida, has put her pop career on the shelf. On the polarized pop scene with rap and and dance on one side, well produced pop music on the other there is room for a 46 year old vocalist. Then all you have to do is find the right producer and some more song writers. The big problem is of course to convince the artist herself. She has said that she might be willing to go back into the recording studio, if it would help people to become aware of the environmental issues. This article was published in Svensk Damtidning 25 November 1985.Frid Lyngstad celebrated her 40th birthday in Paris.Frida was 40 on the Friday 15 November.Early in the morning ten of her Swedish friends had flown down to Paris and were taken by bus to a small hotel in Montmartre.During the day the rest of the party participants arrived there.Anders Hanser and Thomas Johansson from EMA Telstar.Tinnie Fredell, Barbro and Love Lundqvuist and Finn Kalvik and his wife Britt was also on the plane.Everything was kept secret. We were picked up by a bus at the airport, were driven to our hotel, the only thing we knew was that we were going to celebrate Frida's birthday for two days, says one of the guests.Everybody dressed up, the invitation said black tie, at the hotel.Friday night and we were taken to the secret location for the party. The bus stopped at the famous night club Castell where the party started. The party went on into the early hours of the morning.Frida had reserved the whole restaurant, but being very secretive, she and her husband arrived through a back door.Geijerstam sat next to Frida during the dinner.Frida was the last to leave the party, it had been a success. It was a starting point for her new life. The world is her oyster.Frida loves being on stage. She gives her all to the audience, and feels that's her obligation to do so.ABBA's own Dancing Queen who loves being on stage and who loves her audience.Frid is the tough, cool babe in a luxurious package.Who loves to travel, enjoys good food, likes to have fun, likes fashion. She doesn't stand still for a second and she is always the one who dares to go closest to the edge of the stage. And she never forgets about the parts of the audience who don't have as good seats as the ones in front.NICE TO THE FANSHere's a scene from the American tour last year: Frida is sitting by the pool outside the hotel when a couple of fans approach her after discussing among themselves if they dare to or not.Ten minutes later the fans have gotten their autographs and a good conversation with their idol.If I hadn't become a singer I probably would have been a dancer, she has said.Singing and dancing may be her biggest interests, but most of her free time she spends with Benny.Benny Andersson whom she has lived with since 1970 and she married him in 1978.It would be impossible to live with someone who would have to stay at home while you are travelling around the world.Benny wears his wedding present from Frida around his neck: A heavy gold plate with Frida's right hand thumb print imprinted on it.To the West Indies, like they did last Christmas.Or to Switzerland for skiing.Clothes is another interest of Frida's, and she is the one who has the final saying about ABBA's stage costumes.Personally I prefer French and Italian fashion, she says. Also when it comes to food she likes France and Italy. When we're at home I prefer to cook myself. That she likes food is nothing you can see on her figure, but she works out all the time.Frida: I have to sing to stay alive! That's the new, transformed Frida.Your mother died when you were two years old, and you were 30 when you met your father for the first time, your children didn't grow up with you, they lived with their father. Not much of a familylife. And not having the constant support of a grown up created a sense of insecurity of course.OK, they have completely different financial circumstances, but they have and will continue to go through difficulties in their lives, just like I have. They have been through two divorces already.Something that makes them happy. My son works as a musician and my daughter has four years ahead of her with studies. What's that colour you have in your hair today?Crazy Colour, this particular colour is called Fire. Why is it so much fun to record an album? The creative process is the interesting and fun part of it.Why have you started composing songs yourself? He really did persuade me because I actually wrote 11 or 12 songs. What else can you tell us about your new album? It's definitely just as good as a lot of other albums. It has a sound that will leave a mark. Are you still socialising with Ulf Adelsohn?I'm not as involved in Swedish politics since moved to London, but I'm still voting for Moderaterna. There isn't a single party I can identify with completely.Their liberal values is something I find attractive.I'm very pleased with that.I'm not interested in anymore. It's impossible to be an artist and being completely involved in financial affairs. When I sold my shares in Kuben, I could feel in my tummy that it was the right thing to do.And I also have very good financial advisors. Why did you move to London?London would be perfect place. Can you go out in public together with men without that causing romance rumours?Has it been financially rewarding to move to London?Definitely, the taxes are much lower here than in Sweden. What are you doing in your apartment?TV, listen to the radio, talk on the phone, read...You love to be on stage, your manager is itching to arrange a tour for you.Yes, people are constantly nagging me about that, but I'm really terrified. When it feels right, then I will do it.It also depends a little on how this new album is recevied. But you have to get up on stage soon, otherwise there's a risk that the paranoia will get the better of you?If you are away too long it's like starting over again. The biggest problem is probably that we have always been four people together on the stage.Genesis at Isstadion in 1982.What has Elvis Presley meant to you?He is the best male singer of all times, but I discovered him fairly late in life. You are a girl who did almost everything early in life. And when you were 17 you had your first child.Today it's fantastic that I was a young mother. But of course I did miss out on my teenage years. That's what I'm doing, haven't you realized that? No, seriously, I don't want to live like a teenager, but to be able to live a life in freedom that's what I want. Then I would be a hot Lamborghini. That's just another question. This article was published in the Red Cross Swedish magazine, issue number 4, 1997.We weren't born to this earth without a purpose. It's easier to do if it's voluntarily and you can do it the best way you can, says Frida, who is visiting Sweden for a couple of days.Frid Lyngstad Environmental Foundation and the Mentor Foundation which is working against drugs. There's a big responsibility that comes with working voluntarily. That she decided to work for the environment was more or less a coincidence. At that time Frida had stopped singing and moved to Switerland. The article touched her deeply and she felt she had to do something. The meeting led to her working as a member of the board of the Natural Step for years. You must be able to say no to voluntary work if you don't have the time, otherwise it will turn into something that becomes a burden.I'm a strong visionary person and is often led in on different paths in my life.Getting involved in other issues is a matter of the way you see the world and how you relate to other people, which probably have to do with my childhood and simple background.Frida moved from Norwary to Sweden just after the second world war ended and grew up with grandmother under poor circumstances.Since then Frida has had a spectacular career which has brought her a lot of attention and fame. She chose to become a singer when she was very young. The success I have had bas give me a lot of freedom something I really appreciate.Everything I have experienced in life has made me feel a responsibility towards myself and life. She thinks that doing something on a voluntary basis means that you chose to give up money, time, and feelings in your own life for the benefit of someone else. But of course that also means that you have got to have something important to say.My engagement in other issues have developed med alot. This article was published in VeckoRevyn on 20 January 1982.Embroidery, shiny, leather, elegance.Sure, Frida can afford it, but she also has style and good taste.Frida is a trained seamstress! She has done ever since she was a little girl and lived with her grandmother.Ten years ago her hobby became serious.Frida decided to get a proper education. And of course she wanted it to have something to do with clothes. After completing the course Frida said that when her stage and recording career once was over, she wanted to support herself by sewing.CAN AFFORD ITNowadays she mostly gets clothes that are ready to wear and she doesn't have anyone who designs and makes clothes for her.All of her clothes comes in boutiques all over the world.Just last year she made over three million kronor. And she does wear that sometimes. For daily use she chooses gorgeous wool sweaters and trendy cotton pants. As we all know, ABBA, moves a lot on stage, and especially Frida, who really gets going. For an artist like Frida it's the exclusive shops in Rome, Paris and New York that contributes to her wardrobe.Always the latest models of the best quality fabrics. It's really only on stage she uses the extreme clothes she has.She also uses much more tight clothes than she does in her spare time. It's also on stage she uses her most sexy and colourfull shoes and boots.Frida has designed many of the colourfull and glittery outfits ABBA has worn through the years.FUR COATSAll of Frida's femininity and eleangce really shows when she is wearing one of her many fur coats. In her wardrobe you can find all kinds of clothes made of leather and fur. Some of them are made in Sweden, but most she has bought in other countries.Music, music, music is of course her life. And now she is going to record a solo album.World famous artists have contributed with the best songs and lyrics.Frida and met her more than just one time.Interesting what she has to say about Agnetha and also the relationship to her father.Ignore us, just sit there and talk.Anders Glenmark raises his water glass. It's a very unnatural situation. But pretend closeness is part of promoting almost any product nowadays, even music.Frid Lyngstad monthly to make a film to show when she releases her first album in twelve years.Frid Lyngstad, married to prince Ruzzo Reuss for a decade or so, should choose to listen to the lyrics of her songs. No wonder Glenmark's wife said she didn't recognize her husband anymore.Among the eternal pop words always and never flows intoxicating minor chords and the dream of being the woman of your life, your loved one and your best friend. You become more brave as you get older. It's 1996 now, I want time and room for both sex and sensuality. Those are the conditions, I should have gotten used to it.For our first meeting I arrive with a surly face, but friendly, just to not ruin the job.Fredriksson, 21, from Eskilstuna, (including the misspelling of her last name, sang on TV so well that the whole population forgot their worries about the new traffic rules).Whose professional ambitions were despised, whose world fame didn't sit well with the political situation in Sweden in the 70's, whose finances were something suspicious, whose success were laughed at, whose looks were watched like they were an issue of international importance, whose private life was sold in the form of colourfull eye candy?Agnetha and I had, and will always have, two completely different personalities. That does not mean that we don't like each other a lot.We pushed each other in a positive way.Anything you can do I can do better! Now, when I listen to what we did, I think our voices sound fantastic together. But long lasting friendship does not make very good headlines.Divorces, on the other hand, do.To be honest I wanted to tell the whole press and media to go to hell.Twenty years later it's funny but back then it was serious.During the years when Frida continued to be a celebrity because she is a celebrity, the distrust hasn't gone away at all.The wish to be in control.People like to gossip about others, I do to.Before our second meeting Frida has called a mutual friend and the conversations between us flows much easier. It's now we talk about grandmother. In every person's life there is a base that explains a lot of what comes later. In Frida's life it's her grandmother. It's from her she has made her race to the top. They were, and are, the ticket to a completely different life than the one she shared with her grandmother. But I have my roots in the working class, it has to do with my reality, I grew up in it.My race to the top has nothing to do with cottage and castle, but with self worth. The man was married, and had children whom he went back to when the war was over. She died when she was 19.My grandmother had already lost her husband, now she lost her daughter and was stuck with me.Norway to find a new life in Sweden. An incredibly strong woman.Do you remember those sleeveless ribbed shirts? But there was no chance she would buy me clothes as long as she could sew. Now, with some distance to the past, Frida is able to see the pain in her granmother's life and she also realize that one way to express love is to take care of someone's basic needs. That wasn't as obvious as she was growing up.Especially when I need to heal from something bad, there has been some hard times in my life. When the unknown, German father appeared during the most hectic ABBA years, suddenly interested in her, Frida was curious to meet him.I'm rather with people who dont betray.I'm not easily impressed.Like the three other former members of ABBA she is surrounded by people who limit their comments about them to superlatives. How many times during the years have people enjoyed themselves by spreading rumours. The voice is pleasant, the tone is stern. The look in her eyes is friendly and she never looks away from you.The fact that she had children didn't stop her professional ambition. All fame cost, mine too.Today I have a loving relationship to both my grown up children.I'm afraid the loneliness from my childhood with my grandmother was transferred to my children, I'm not a very physical person either. To summarize, Frida's children got to see the bad sides of being famous.Suddenly some fans walked in through the door, and there stood my children. That hurt me and it hurt my children. It has taken a long time, and many talks between us to heal our relations.Once we had moved in together, I made my decision. For the first time in my life I would someone else's needs first.Ruzzo Reuss, a German prince, is a golf course architecht.Frida became his caddie, around the world and learned to play golf at the same time.Suddenly she was part of the royal circle who hunt and skii together. Her involvement in Mentor Foundation for the prevention of substance abuse is not the only one.An article in a paper about the acid rain, in the early 80's, made Frida so upset she immediately joind the environmental foundation The Natural Step. She had changed class, that's how it felt. What used to be glass pearls were now real.Even at home at her grandmother's she used a napkin to wipe her mouth.Where I started, that's where I belong. The big change came after the divorce from Benny. The step out into the unknown killed the feeling of break up.The need to hide from the world would have come no matter where in the world she was. However, in London, it became possible.Frida calls it has only grown stronger. It started when she read some of what the Indian philosopher Krishnamurti wrote when she was in the middle of the big ABBA era.In the middle of the chaos I could sit down and completely devot myself to lifting a glass of water. To go hiking the way I do nowadays is a way expose one self.It is such a liberating feeling to get passed it, if you have done it once you will be able to face your pain in a completely different way.On the morning of New Year's Day she was approaching 5000 metres.God, and the feeling of that allmightiness it lifts you.And now she releases a CD.That's exactly how it felt.On the backside of the spindle on the disc there's a number. Here We'll Stay) the usual catalogue number ends with the suffix 01 and on the new ones it ends with 02.Thanks for letting me know!CD before, it was only used on the Swedish cassette issue of the album in 1982.And last night and early this morning it was worse than ever.No new revelations there, but I needed some more prescriptions. Now she is in a frame and hanging on the wall.It comes from the magazine Allers, issue 24, 1968.Wang, Grynet Molvig, Wenche Mynche and Eva Henning. My grandmother has always been like a mother to me and she lives very close to where I live.Frid is a very modest girl. She is the mother of two even though she looks just like a child herself. Not long after the first baby, Hans, was born.Eskilstuna band which was called Ragnar Fredrikssons.Later on there was this national vocalist competition with the finally on Skansen in Stockholm. After that the offers started coming. But I still wanted to be a mother first, then a singer. It was then I understood that there might be a future for me on the stage. You can have a great career. But his tour would be going the whole summer and I didn't want to travel around that long.So it was arranged for me to work with some other guys.I'm sure they will teach me so many usefull things this summer.Lasse encourages me and applauds. He definitely has the rhythm and he knows what the people wants. She is beautiful to look at, has a voice that is both unusual and very pleasant. She has had some routine and is now on a first name basis with the managers of the different folk parks. Her correspondence isn't that vast yet, once in a while she will receive a fan letter.I'm just an ordinary farmer with 22 hectare for growing crops and a few acres where I grow christmas trees. That such a marriage between artists wouldn't last very long. Now Eskilstuna have two girls to send out to the folkparks this summer.Because there are more jobs available and the pay is better than in Norway. She gladly admits that she loves being famous. She can be a little reserved before you get to know her.In fact, she is really shy and is scared that people will expect her to be something that she is not.She has been through many many depressions, but today she is more harmonic than ever.Frida is also a very warm and caring person. But she likes to clear the air and part as friends. She thinks that's the only way to have good relationships with people. She is very witty and quick with biting comments. She is a professional when she is working and ambitious to the edge of perfection.Sometimes she even manages to play some tennis.Frida has no problems with her weight. She starts everyday with porridge, during the day she never eats anything but fish and vegetables. She doesn't drink anything stronger than white wine. But every now and she has a chocolate biscuit. When Frida was a little girl she went to the library and borrowed ten books every week. She has always enjoyed reading and apart from the four daily papers she reads a lot of books.Wintertime is a difficult time for Frida. She would prefer to go into hibernation.Every now and then she paints something herself. She is also convinced that women dress up for other women's sake, not for the men's.There's a lot of sadness in Frida, but funnily enough she is not very romantic. The Frida remasters have arrived! So now they have just been released. Here's my little review so lets' begin with: Frida Ensam 1975Frida's first REAL hit album in Sweden.Frida gives all she got, and proves what a versatile singer she is.She can sing strong and rocky, seductively and very very softly.ABBA conventions during the years, and I'm sure this new even louder 'version' will continue doing that. So, still, to this day I feel a little weak when I hear it.Frida perform this song live at Skansen on a very hot August evening in 1975.Lot of ABBA fans were surprised over this 'rockier' Frida. You could tell that she deliberatly wanted to get away from the ABBA sound. And I think she managed to do just that on most of the tracks.Frida's awesome chilling vocals accompanied by Collins' powerful drums proved to be a worldwide success and her biggest English single release to date!It appears Universal have now been alerted to this obvious incorrect inclusion and all future copies of the remaster will include the original 'correct' version.I'm still saying that this album was at least 10 years ahead of its time. The remastering of this album was crucial.Frida was hardly bearable to listen to.Now, on this remastered disc, it's like it's a new song. This cute article comes from Allers weekly magazine published 29 April 1973.Frida and another Swedish singer, Lill Lindfors, both got 300 kronor to go and shop for clothes.FRID LYNGSTAD SHOWS US PRETTY OUTFITS FOR 300Everything is getting more and more expensive.Clothes they both wanted to wear. She kept her show going at night at Berns to the end of April.Stockholm making a documentary about Lill. She has developed into a woman of great variety.Isn't it great that we are allowed to be romantic again, that we can show people that we like each other, she says. What if she wasn't a performer, what kind of work would she have chosen? She is one of our best singers.Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson.Frid was only 18 years old when she got married and she has a daughter who is six and a son who is ten.But they both realised that they had married too young and they divorced as friends. The difference between Agnetha's and Frida's careers is that Frida's is still alive. She is recording a new album right now.The music is a hobby for Frida, says Marie Ledin, head of the record company Anderson Records. And if everything goes according to plan, a new one will be released this fall or early next year.He is also the head of EMA Telstar who was ABBA's promotion company which organised their tours. To Frida, the music is more of a hobby. It's not about financial matters for her, it's about the desire to sing, says Marie Ledin. The new album will be recorded in Frida's son Hans Fredriksson's recordingstudio in Trosa.Thomas Johansson who suggested that we should work together. It was a lot of fun working with Frida, absolutely no problems. She is such a professional, says Glenmark. In one of the bands was a bassplayer, Ragnar Fredriksson, who she fell in love with.RNAHer future as a housewife seemed to be mapped out.She met Benny Andersson, teen idol in Hep Stars.Around the same time Benny produced Frida's first album.Frida was always carefull with her looks and took good care of herself. In the middle of ABBA's huge success something life altering happened to Frida.Frida in a German magazine. Both Frida and Agnetha have denied the rumours that they didn't get along and were enemies. But they were never really friends either.Frida and Agnetha hit each other with gold records! It lasted until February 1981.Frida's latest album is about the difficult separation. When it comes to my marriage to Benny there were so many other things surrounding ABBA that was disturbing, Frida said when the last CD was released. In 1986 Frida moved to Fribourg in Switzerland.Swedish Television for years. She was interviewed by Stina Dabrowski who she gave a mini compost, a little box with worms in it.Frida is on her way back.As most of you know Frida made a guest appearance on Jon Lord's new album last year. She also appeared with Jon Lord on stage on his tour. But beyond that I think it also shows what a fantastic, warm voice Frida still has.You can order Jon Lord's CD here. Now it sees they're fallingAnd I feel release .And realizeThe sun will shine againThough this timeFeels like it's never endingTime will help and healThese moments will passSo raise your head, and take up your heartHold it closely to you And the tears and pain will fall awayLike blossom snowYou will knowThat you can be your own best friendThe sun will shine againOnly you can knowHow unravelled you'd becomeHold on tightAnd let it go ...Pleasure for me in my life means doing something important, for my family, my friends and other people. Not doing nothing, says Frida. We meet her at the Santa Ponsas golf court in Mallorca. We have a little conversation about life, love and most of all Mentor. The golf tournament is part of Mentor's annual meeting in Mallorca.Luxembourg, the business man George Soros, Queen Noor and others Frida is part of this foundation which contributes with support to different projects in the world working for preventing drug use.Education is a big part of this.We all know her life well: ABBA, world fame, touring, a place in the sun (sometimes), separation (also in her private life), moving, silence and a new love and security. Then she smiles, says hi to some golfers passing by.The weather's a little better! Her husband Ruzzo stands a little bit away discussing golf rules with some of the golfers. Here it's him contributing with his golf skills to make the annual meeting of Mentor even better. We have a very good relation built on strong and solid basic love.Just the mentioning of it hurts her and she definitely doesn't want to talk about in public. He is a wonderful man, she says about Ruzzo.During those years she has been involved in a lot of other things like her family and the environmental work. There was a void that needed to be filled. But to have success in life as a human being you have to acknowledge all parts of your life.Back home in Sweden, in Trosa where Frida's son Hasse lives, there is a recording studio which both Hasse and Ruzzo has created. The connection to Sweden is strong, with her son in Trosa and the place where she works.Ruzzo has children and a home in southern Sweden. And they have their friends there.Apart from going to Sweden we don't travel very much.Ruzzo has his work in Switzerland and we don't come here to Mallorca as often as I would like, she tells us and hurries off to continue working. She has to prepare a speech for the price ceremony and other things for the meeting next day.She is happy as a business woman.Give something back of all the things I have received in life."Visit this Wish List at
