(BGC to its fans) as The Japanese Animated Cyberpunk
Classic.The series begins in MegaTokyo of the year 2032, where much of the city
has recently been destroyed by the second great Kanto earthquake of
2025.In the process of rebuilding the city, the Genom corporation has
become a major world power, due to its introduction of
boomers.Boomer technology is essentially a combination of robotics,
cybernetics and artificial intelligence in human form, pioneered by
Doctor Katsuhito Stingray.In
reality, Genom is far from the saviour of the world that they would
project themselves to be.Genom's development of military boomers, and
their continuing program of controlling the global economy and
government poses a threat to the very future of humanity.Complete synopses for the eight episodes of
Crisis
the three following episodes of
Crash
and the three (prequel) episodes of
AD Police
written by
Jeanne Hedge,
are now available.The Knight Sabers are a vigilante group of four women who oppose Genom's
plans for world domination.He
helps out with maintenance and development on the equipment, and drives
the truck and flies the KnightWing for the Sabers.In BGC6 he gets to
shoot a few missiles at some boomers, and in BGC8 he finally gets to
join right in with his own mecha.His seiyuu (voice actor) is Sasaki
Nozomu.There are many more characters, major and minor, who show up during the

A fixer by profession, he is Sylia's front man for acquiring
information and contracts for the Sabers.BGC2, and has a small role in BGC7.He regularly gets annoyed

A friend of Dr.Raven's who, with his Griffon (a fast car), plays a
major role in BGC4.Sylvie (Takamori Yoshino)
She escapes from the Generos space station in BGC5 and becomes a
friend of Priss'.Matsumoto Yasunori)
Vision's manager and bodyguard.McLaren (Sawaki Ikuya)
An American boomer researcher employed by Gulf and Bradley.Yes there is, although it isn't nearly enough to satisfy most fans.There is a followup series of three OAVs,
Bubblegum Crash,
which begins in 2034.Unfortunately Crash was done by a different
design team, and had a different voice actor for Priss.The hardsuit
designs also changed dramatically, the boomers became much less
intelligent, and Genom was pretty much absent from the plot.Gall Force, Riding Bean, and Megazone 23.Soldier Blue, character and mecha illustrations, and

There are some differences in the characters' backgrounds for BGC 2040 than in the original series.Priss, as she is most often called, has proved to be the Knight Sabers' strongest member, specializing in heavy assault.She spends most of her time in a trailer truck that she calls home, practicing with her band, Sekiria (whose other members are Maxon, Jade and Fox), holding gigs and riding her precious motorcycle.Her inner motives in joining the Knight Sabers or how she became one of its members are unclear.Priss is distinctively hard to read as a person; little signs of change in her personality or even her facial contortions are the only way people can tell she wants something, such as wanting Linna to join the team, and admitting her feelings towards Leon.Katsuhito Stingray, the man who invented Boomers, and her brain patterns were used to make both the Boomers and the hardsuits.She sees Boomers as an abomination, as her mother did.Sylia runs the upscale clothing boutique Silky Doll, which serves as a front for the Knight Sabers HQ.Geit Corporation, where she is constantly harassed by her bosses.Linna is a very positive, friendly, outgoing person with high ideals and dreams of helping people, much like a superhero would.In high school she was a track and field star and as well as an all around very durable athlete, and her athleticism is a great addition to the Knight Sabers team.Linna was originally believed to be a lesbian due to her odd draw to Priss in the beginning of the series.AD Police, and is also a member of the Knight Sabers.Nene does little fighting and focuses on sensor ops, battlefield communications, ECM and ECCM.She likes to pester Leon in much the same fashion that a little sister would, which he barely grudgingly tolerates because he occasionally asks favors of her.She is very playful with Leon, and though she is quite confident in her own skills, she resorts to childish whimpers or sounds when distressed (even temper tantrums when Priss mocks her fighting capabilities).Ironically, Nene's biggest desire is to be treated more like an adult, demanding not to be called a kid, and even making Mackey call her "ma'am" despite the slim difference in their age range.He has a crush on Priss, which she does not like since she has reasons to despise the AD Police.As the series progresses he discovers that she is a Knight Saber, but does nothing with that knowledge.Daley is also ambiguously homosexual, in contrast with his BGC self, who is openly homosexual.The emotional opposite of Leon, Daley is more inclined to use his brains than his brawn and seems to be the only member of the ADP who is actively questioning the rather contradictory nature of their relationship with the Knight Sabers.Mackey becomes his protege and one of the few people Nigel can honestly call a friend.He is a kindly old man who fears for Sylia's safety, and refuses to leave her side when the times get tough.However, when Sylia does get down and dirty, she does it with a vengeance.Shock Treatment (song by The Ramones from the album It's Alive)
