2.Anthony James Bourge, 24 November 1948, Tiger Bay, Cardiff, South Glamorgan, South Wales) (guitar, vocals), and Ray Phillips (b.Raymond John Phillips, 1 March 1949, Tiger Bay, Cardiff, South Glamorgan, South Wales (drums).Some might say that Budgie was one of the first Heavy Metal bands, with fast, heavy music (the likes of which wasn't really made popular until Iron Maiden and other NWOBHM acts played) being played as early as 1973, even before bands like Judas Priest.The current line up is Burke Shelley (bass, vocals), Simon Lees b.May 1970(guitar), and Steve Williams b."Breadfan", later covered by Metallica.Metallica also covered another Budgie song, "Crash Course In Brain Surgery").By late 1974 Bourge and Shelley were joined by drummer Steve Williams for the album Bandolier, but Bourge left mid 1978 and finally was replaced by "Big" John Thomas (b.Men Forever (shown frequently on the USA Network's "Night Flight" television series in the 1980's) which is now a cult classic.The band stopped gigging in 1988, members went into studio production, occasionally guesting on other projects; "Big" John Thomas most notably worked on the Phenomena CD with Glenn Hughes out of the Black Sabbath studios.Lard on their Radio 1 show, but the pair then "forgot" to do their special Budgie day.Budgie recenty underwent a thirty five date UK tour that ran until December 2006, and their new album, entitled, You're All Living In Cuckooland was released in the UK on 7 November 2006.On 4th July 2007 Lees announced his departure from the band to concentrate on his teaching and solo career.The Dio Years World Tour.VIP passes to meet their "favourite band of all time."Rumours of tours to Poland, Japan, the U.Russia seems to indicate BUDGIE are riding on a new wave of interest in British Rock and Heavy Metal that has hit Australian and other shores around the globe like a Tsunami during 2007.AMS 7342

Budgie comes into their own with their third studio release.With their third album Budgie came up with their first masterpiece.Every song is memorable and made this the album that should have put them on the map to stay.THIS IS WHERE THE BAND REALLY TAKES OFF.SURE THE FIRST TWO WEREN'T TERRIBLE LISTENING(BUDGIE BEATS SQUAWK IN MY OPINION)BUT THAT WAS CLEARLY THE BAND IN THEIR FORMATIVE...At least budgie had a sense of humour.Metallica doesn't hold a candle to classic heavy metal bands like Budgie.NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON A FRIEND
