Exciter is Depeche Mode's tenth studio album, which was released on 14 May 2001 in the UK and May 15 in the US.It uses more digital music technology compared to their other albums. It also had several is around 30 minutes long. The three members of the band are interviewed along with Daniel Miller, Christian Eigner, Peter Gordeno, Anton Corbijn, and Mute label representatives.Producer Mark Bell does not appear, and although they discuss the fact that the band declined not to have Corbijn direct Exciter's music videos, they do not mention or interview the two who did direct them.Disc 2 is a DVD is also their greatest weakness. But on Exciter there's an autobiography in the lyrics that, for the first time, strikes a chord with skeptics and believers alike.Mercifully, the band has exorcised the demons and produced an album that places them squarely back on track. The track's physical and metaphorical imagery poignantly relays the karmic revolution of living the fast life.In all, Exciter is a stunning return to form, and a triumph by every definition.Instant Ringtones in 30 Seconds. No Credit Card Required.Send them to your phone instantly!Add a iframe that allows us to ping the server when ashes, and it sounded like a band dancing on the edge of musical oblivion. So is it a surprise that Depeche Mode eventually released Exciter, the most toothless Depeche Mode album? Some say that Exciter is a "progression" for the band; but this misses the point. What Exciter lacks is desperation, drama, and that catchy beat.I've no idea what people respond to in that song.I'll take Exciter over U2 and Radiohead.Your vote will be counted and will appear on the product page within 24 hours.""Love" this, "Love" that....Depeche Mode have been an excellent group in the past, managing to channel raw emotion into beautiful music and also proving they are capable of incredibly precise and intricate songs.Every song has potential, but sadly most of them simply play out, leaving the listener longing for what might have been."Easy Tiger" doesn't fare much better. The testosterone and raw passion are gone from the music."Songs of Faith and Devotion" benefited from the hedonistic binging chaos of those years, although the lives of the band members certainly did not."Ultra" had a bitter and angry "we're still here" ring to it, which helped that record out."Exciter" (possibly one of the most ironic album titles of all time)is lifeless. It also doesn't help that even the good songs are pulled down by uniformly awful lyrics(with the exception of "Dream On".To top the whole mess off, excellent producer Mark Bell is utterly wasted. His talents could have made a good album great, but due to the uninspired nature of the music, he simply makes a bad album listenable. It leaves the listener confident that DM can still write a great song while evolving.Feel Loved" sounds better than it really is because it's one of the only songs on here that doesn't sound like it was designed to put people to sleep. It's still a solid song."When the Body Speaks" would have sounded great as a mellow lullaby kind of song, as would the beautiful harmonies in "Goodnight Lovers", if the rest of the album weren't so unswervingly mild mannered."Exciter" they get lost in a gooey mire of quiet sap.Last and certainly least, it's painfully obvious a band is running out of ideas when the word "love" appears no less than 4 times in various song titles on the same album. Was this review helpful to you?I'm pretty sure now in retrospect that the main reason I was initially disappointed was because it followed my favorite DM album, Ultra, so the bar was impossibly high.Fast forward a half dozen years and now this is one of the DM albums I find myself going back to the most. It's such a beautiful album, and showcases elements of this great band that are not necessarily highlighted in other albums. The only song I still don't love is "Breathe," but even that one I like a lot more than I used to."Dream On," "Shine," "When the Body Speaks," "Dead of Night," "Freelove," "I Feel Loved," "I Am You," and "Goodnight Lovers" are every bit as good as all the classics. Was this review helpful to you?Published 3 months ago by J.I'm a fan since 1987's Music for the Masses.I'm totally devoted to Depeche Mode, but it's 2007 and Exciter strikes as their worst CD ever.DM fans seem not to like this album too much.Depeche Mode delivers again Depeche changes with each album and their changes are always good. They explore new areas of sound.Published 14 months ago by B.One of the most romantic, and definitly the sexiest of all DM albums, Dave's voice give perfect life to Martins emotions, anyone who dislikes this album, doesn't truly understand...There were a few songs on the cd that i deleted from my file, but I kept the majority because they were really good songs.Ultra was ok at best, Exciter on the other hand is simply not worth listening to.See all 384 customer reviews...ONLY THE outlets, to promoter "Exciter".The second disc was an "open ended" interview. The "answers" from the band are already prepared on the CD, and the questions are printed out in the booklet that comes with the CD, so DJ's can "interview" the band. The "BCD" box set featured the "IPKCD" multimedia and interview disc, along with the standard "Exciter" album, two postcards and two stickers. All of the contents were contained within a nice 10" by 6" foldout box, with an overprinted "Exciter" cover.Ruby community since Apple has included the DTrace providers for it.Yet, surprisingly few seem to actually use DTrace much (yours truly included really). The probes are specified in a provider:module:function:name format, with an empty entry being a wildcard, so asking for all syscall function entries would mean asking for syscall:::entry, we could get all write syscall entries by asking for syscall::write:entry and its (function) returns by asking for syscall::write:return for the write() function. We can do this by specifying a predicate for our probing, think of it as a conditional. And that makes perfect sense since I had a mongrel running there in the background.FUNCTION NAME 19708 you can see the API still needs some ironing out by means of more real world usage.Ambition is awesome, CouchDb is awesome, sounds like a perfect match to me.Persistable module some more features.Collaboa and using other issue trackers.Zed Shaw mentioned this on the Rails podcast, but you see, Nginx has this ability to do virtual SSI includes from another url.The documentation on it is right here but half of it is in russian to confuse the spies.Think big picture stuff for now). Not exactly rocket science.Chances are we can cache those fragments in memcache to gain just a bit more.Rack applications together, forming some middleware between our main app and the request being served by the browser. That upload handler you wrote for IOWA is really great, too bad I use Camping.Last night I gave a presentation at our small (but awesome) Oslo Ruby group about distributed programming with Ruby. Here are the slides (900kb).And then when the thing boots back up we have to go through those fun initial settings again (language, datetime etc).Sending initfs image (1537 kB)...Useful for storing just about anything and serving it up (or not) to the public.Rails application that talks to the Thumpers via a distributed interface I wrote.Bingo), but we can fairly easily add that, based on a snippet I found by Eric Hodel. It adds a digest_auth method to Net::HTTP.This little thing has been popping up in my feed reader again and again during the past week. The post has over 400 comments, many of them from Microsoft employees. So in my eyes the comments on that post say they got 100+ coders turning out bad code, all because of their management.Personally I find it extremely painful having to maintain a piece of template fixture; every time I change the wording or fix a spelling error in the mailer template I have to update the fixture.Like a registration key, or a username and password or a certain sentence (I believe it was my coworker Koz that showed me this in a commit once). So that makes sure the email was sent, that the recipent and subject are correct, that the template rendered looks like the one we expected and finally that it contains the information needed for the user to login. All without the boring chores of maintaining static fixtures.Collaboa, which through the power of google and seasoned Ruby hackers lead me across a bunch of little tricks. The Fully Upturned Bin, for those curious about how the garbage collector works in Ruby and some common pitfalls.Quite embarrasing to say the least.Enter ObjectSpace which can be seen as the info kiosk for the garbage collection facility.Oh yes, lots of objects (about 5000 in fact). This little thing by John Carter will do just that and a little more.Save it as MemoryProfile.Things to look at are unusual large objects.Add the following to the end: GC.Class objects in the 250.Could even combine it with some things from MemoryProfile.Oh, and the Collaboa leak?Clearing that one out each time I wanted a different handle to the repository filesystem made the memory usage constant again. When I had no idea how nice and speedy Lighttpd really was. When there was that bug with has_and_belongs_to_many inserting records twice in the join table. When we had to restart our fastcgi servers in development mode to reload changes. When Basecamp and 43things was the biggest Rails applications. When ApplicationController was called AbstractApplicationController.DHH made a living out of coding Rails all day long.Boy, has Rails come a long way since I started playing around with Rails in september 2004.And with the infamous 1.Dan Beehler remaining from the old days. This album rekindled my interest in this band.Heavy Metal Maniac 1983 1.Metallica and Anthrax for thrash metal superiority, and this disc shows why.Certainly Exciter may well have been one of the very first thrash bands.Unfortunately this reissue features little in the way of packaging, but as I recall the original didn't have much either.Another track was recorded for this album that was only released on a couple of rare compilation CDs.Nice to have the 'Feel the Knife' EP as bonus tracks.High pitched, high energy, earth shaking heavy metal!"Die In The Night" and "School Rules" slow things down a tad and give the disc a bit more variety than past albums. This is one of the more rare Exciter releases. Not even sure who released this CD version.Exciter (Maze Music) 1988 1.This is certainly one of the most underrated CDs in Exciter's catalogue.Exciter recorded live at a club in February of 1991.It is obvious that little, if any, overdubs or studio fixes were done. This becomes painfully obvious since there is only one guitarist, and thus only bass and drums backing the guitar solos. In 1996 a new Exciter lineup was formed.Exciter still likes to portray the stereotypical "evil" image with songs of death and war.Obtained this CD from an internet trade on the PM Board. As I said in the short bio above, it was this CD that rekindled my interest in this band.Metal freak flag's are flyin' high in the Exciter camp.
