| The Flower Kings are a Swedish progressive rock band.The Flower Kings have seen frequent personnel changes.When the full band was formed, they added Michael Stolt (bass) and Tomas Bodin (keyboards).The music is perhaps best described as "symphonic," bearing a strong resemblance in many instances to that of Yes, and yet there are also hints of strong influence from the jazz fusion genre.In June 2007 they released Road Back Home, mostly a compilation of remixed songs from 1995 to 2006, plus "Little Deceiver" (a previously unreleased track) and the full version of their cover of Genesis' "The Cinema Show."On September 28, 2007 they released their 11th studio album, "The Sum Of No Evil", containing 6 new songs.Limited Edition Official Bootlegs

* section, delete the tag (from ...Lead and Backing vocals) who would stay with them.Michael in the bass joined and the band was officially born.Moody Blues, genesis, Jethro Tull etc, borrowing ideas but not music, so you can easily find their inspiration but a single chord copied, I personally liked the album but found it closer to Neo Prog than to Symphonic but this is only a stylistic precision that has no relation with the quality of the album.Ulf Wallander playing the Sax as a guest that remains for a long period with them.Anglagard or the dark and almost religious atmosphere of Par Lindh Project (With whom Roine worked in Gothic Impressions), being that the music of THE FLOWER KINGS is a bit lighter but not inferior by any means.Best The Flower Kings studio album...This noscript section of this tag only shows image banners.The first thing i noticed after the first spin was how different it was from past releases.Daniel Gildenlow's presence from PAIN OF SALVATION can't be under estimated.The bass is so prominant.Roine's warm vocals enter the song a minute later as it has calmed down.The chorus is back after 20 minutes.Roine's vocals and a calm are back to end the song.Some aggressive guitar before 4 minutes.Some powerful organ in the ending.Christianopel is an instrumental.Guitar is ripping it up.Vocals before 3 minutes and with them a calm.Vox Humana features Hasse on vocals with piano.Again the lyrics are so positive and meaningful.Hasse come in around 2 minutes.The vocals,guitar and organ shine.Some crazy guitar to end it.Soul Vortex is a jazzy instrumental with some great percussion.Rollin' The Dice is a Bodin song(as was Fast Lane).The vocals are quite theatrical at times.Danceschool is an instrumental composed by Reingold and Csorsz.This is mind blowing stuff man.This one is obviously a ride that twists and turns throughout.An amazing,jaw dropping track.This is one of the lowest rated studio albums that THE FLOWER KINGS have recorded.The Rainmaker still brought some sunshine into my prog world.This is surprisingly good.Last Minute On Earth is such a great tune.Some organ adds to the sound.Hasse is the vocalist here and he sounds very passionate.The contrast of calm and heavy continues.From uptempo to dark and dramatic.Some aggressive vocals 2 minutes in.Fragile vocals and a calm before 7 minutes.The Rainmaker is one of my favourites.An atmospheric track with some mellotron 4 minutes in.Sword Of God is a great song with some ripping guitar and passionate vocals.Vocals,drums and synths lead the way on this one.In fact if you ever see any of their cds new or used that you don't have: buy!Watching The Flower Kings live might be boring due to limited body movement or stage acts of the band members.This is really a challenging job for the band although they got used to it.Another interesting point is also the sounds of guitars are different from those of studio version.PARADOX HOTEL is one of those double albums which contain nice ideas but, after a while, pretty much all of them get spoiled.Fortunately, there are a few points of light.Flower Kings would drop their vocals altogether.Where are the days when bands had outside producers to guide them?Prog Archives, All rights reserved. |
