Renowned house music label MN2S is making the shift to download only due to the high cost and associated overheads of vinyl production.

All MN2S tracks are now available from www. mn2s.com and other online retailers.

“The price of vinyl is just too high and we've decided to pay our artists instead of the many middle men that get rich in the process. Distributors, pressing plants, printers, couriers, packers, shrink-wrappers etc have all been taking a cut out of the artist pie for too long,” says MN2S label chief Dave Elkabas.

"This not only allows our DJ customers to get our tracks cheaper and faster than ever before, but also allows our catalogue to become accessible by a far wider audience, both geographically and demographically, due to the reach of the internet and the recent plethora of portable mp3 players. You don't have to have a big old analogue record player to make buying our music relevant.”

Fair enough, I've never heard of that label...when physical singles completely die out I would imagine many record compaines will do this

I know MN2S - it stands for Milk N 2 Sugars

Their output is predominantly underground funky house. I think we'll see a lot of labels following suit, but will take a wee while for the majors to do the same.
