Info: Biography, Pictures, Discography of all CDs & DVDs
George for some time, but once we got acquainted and I learned more about him, this seemed like a great time to finally do it.George Skaroulis was born and raised in Clearwater, Florida and is one of five children. His upcoming CD will be his ninth, and he has been included on at least six compilations albums as well. Are there any other musicians in your family? When did you start playing the piano? As time went on, I started figuring things out for myself. When I was ten, I took lessons for about five weeks.VERY nervous getting onstage.Even though I was creating a lot of music on the piano, after I played a piece one time, it was gone.Once I had a keyboard with a sequencer, I was able to actually record as many as sixteen tracks and layer them. When did you go into the restaurant business? What made you decide to move to Atlanta from Florida? My brother and I had a restaurant in Panama City, which is in the Florida panhandle.Panama City, and it was the only place where you could go to really good concerts.Theater here in Atlanta, where I also played the piano once a week. One night, a guy came in for dinner at 10:00, and the piano player for the evening had already left.Hedrick, and he released his own records and marketed them to the gift industry, which was a completely different approach. What are you working on now? What else could fill that same niche and not be so limited as far as when I can market it?Evzone is a Greek soldier. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and guards wearing the Evzone costumes, which are kind of skirted. This costume had been sitting in a paper bag for years, and I always loved it.How did you get into selling soaps, candles, and pepper mills along with your music? The big audience for me is people who use my music for massage and relaxation. It looks like most of the soaps, candles, and pepper mills are from Greece. When I go to Greek festivals, I try to keep some things that are specifically Greek. Some buy a pepper mill! Are you doing a lot of Greek festivals this year? They can walk up to the booth, put on a pair of headphones, and listen for as long as they like.Because of my dad, I was always doing talent shows when I was a kid.Other times I take the word of the person who is setting up the concert. Are the kids who open for you usually a little bit older? Some have been as young as eight, some as old as fifteen.Do these kids usually play original music?Your music is so peaceful and serene, but sometimes kind of dark.It certainly comes out in my music.People may not understand it, but I hope they do.Who or what have been your biggest musical influences?Have you done much in the way of visual arts?Patmos, Greece until about 1913, when he emigrated to the US.The negatives were the size of a postcard. These had been sitting in a shoe box forever, and I really wanted to bring them back to life. The music sounds very nostalgic to me.On this little island, there are no piano tuners, and this piano was pretty beat up.That was a really exciting moment! After the concert, we pulled back the curtains, and people were able to walk into the exhibit to see these photographs. The coolest thing for me was that there were people there who were in these pictures many years ago as children.Did you have the CD playing during the exhibit?CD would be played anytime the photography was on display. How many places was it shown?Greek organization sponsored it here in Atlanta. It was a good experience to watch other pianists do their thing.Sometimes the smallest venues can be the most intimidating.People were very close, and there were two music reviewers in the very front row (RJ Lannan from New Age Reporter and myself)!Everybody played so much better the second night.Do you have any hobbies?Photography is probably my main hobby.Do you have your music on iTunes? Are they also going to have you to go there to do concerts? Many thanks to George Skaroulis for taking the time to share his story with us!To learn more about him and to hear samples of his music, visit his website at www.Music samples are also on www.George was figuring out the melodies of songs he heard on the radio.Despite the stage fright that he would experience, George would enter his Elementary School talent shows each year. His father would often take him to the piano stores at the local mall and people would gather around watching this little kid do his thing. At the age of 10, his parents encouraged piano lessons, but in five weeks the lessons were over after his teacher discovered George was playing the lessons without reading the music. As a teenager, Skaroulis began a career in the restaurant industry, and dedicated over 20 years of his life to the business.Time at the piano was often his own private escape, and Skaroulis, shy about his lack of formal training, was very selective about performing publicly. With a very positive response, Skaroulis was inspired to compose more music and continue following his dream. This year, George celebrates the 10th year of his independent record label Evzone Music.Purchasing music direct is also the most beneficial option for the artist, and shipping is still free (within the contiguous U.Evzone Music is growing to add the music of other complementary artists, so stay tuned for more music selections in the near future.Thank you for supporting independent music. We encourage website.Chris song called "Magaya."We spoke quite a while about Chris and his music. She then asked me for my name, address, phone number, hair color, and my mother's maiden name.Eleni, and ultimately sent her a copy."Wow, could that be possible?"Eleni in hopes that Chris would like what he heard.Eleni was actually his mom!It is a nice way for us to connect in a way that many performers do not. What led to this decision?Have you yourself ever considered composing soundtrack music?Mark Isham, Randy Newman, and Dave Grusin for inspiring me at the movies at an early age.LOVE to follow in their footsteps. Is this a new direction for you?Yes, Second Nature has a few new elements. So far, the listener response and reviews have been quite good.Actually, my first three albums featured artwork (not photos of me) on the covers.Festivals in the Southeast.Athena was originally written with the 2004 Olympic games in mind.Very rhythmic, and certainly very different.CDs to share, or just hunting around for free copies of music online.Without that income, future releases may not happen.Bill, thanks you so much for all of your support. If you want us to email you the minute this CD arrives,
