HDIF plays "The Queen Is Dead" at Smiths special a...There'll be mulled wine, mince pies and lots of Christmas spirit to accompany the fireplace humour and toasty tones of Mr James Yorkston preaching the gospel with an effortless mix of sweet melodies, haunting lyrics and irrelevant humour to send you into Christmas all warm and woozy to face the winter chill.Switchflicker Records on Saturday 20th October at the Contact Theatre in Manchester.Then, as part of the BBC Electric Proms, James Yorkston is playing in a tribute to one of his main influences, the great Lal Waterson.Performing alongside Alasdair Roberts, Kathryn Williams, Lisa Knapp and the Waterson Carthy in Cecil Sharp House, London, on Thursday 25th October.The annual Eat Your Own Ears presents their special Christmas show, on Thursday 20th December at The Luminaire in North London with mulled wine, mince pies and various guests throughout the evening.UK combine to deliver exhilarating sets in the intimate surroundings of the Contact theatre in Manchester.The Year Of The Leopard (2006) Yorkston has established a canon as singular and intimate as any current songwriter.Roaring The Gospel is a collection that complements the diffuse and tender tone of the studio albums with a slightly more open and ramshackle feel.Roaring The Gospel is released on 4th June.Doors 7pm
