Had a blast this weekend down at the Bamboo Room (as usual).Caught this crazy looking Spanish Hogfish, an even wilder looking Scorpionfish and an assortment of Snapper.We want to thank Nicole for hooking us up with some great food on saturday and Karen and Russell (Bamboo Room owners) for the magnificent lunch Sunday.MOFRO in Australia in 2008!Special Sauce among others.MOFRO have been voted one of the 10 best CDs of 2007 by WFUV.They are in great company with Amy Winehouse, Spoon, Mavis Staples, Jose Gonzalez, Radiohead, Wilco, Neil Young, Lucinda Williams and Nick Lowe.Tony Joe White, MOFRO itself and others for a festival christening a newly renovated amphitheater.JJ Grey became a realist early on."Are you sure you want to block this user?Growing up in the swamplands of northern and Adam Scone (keyboard) and Caroline Jomama (tamborine and triangle).Dan Prothero since their first studio outing, "Blackwater", released in 2001 on Prothero's label Fog City Records.JJ Grey is a liked what I heard.Most people in Pocatello haven't really heard what this band has to offer.We arrived at the Stephen's Performing Arts Center and there were a ton of cars in the lot.Maybe it was me that was out of the loop on the music scene.As the concert started I looked around and notice a lot of empty seats.JJ Grey and Mofro started their first set with a few of their older tracks from other albums.The college kids sitting close to us were singing the words and dancing in the aisles.You could feel the vibe in the auditorium.Everyone around me was hyped up and getting into JJ's awesome lyrics.People clapping along with the beat.JJ Grey and Mofro and this is what I came up with.But for me the second best part of the evening was the drummer.Between JJ's sweet voice and the pounding beat of those drums I was transported into the world of JJ Grey and Mofro.Someone I could and sit and talk with forever.We shared stories of his years growing up and the real world he lived in.Hay, What a great night.All those who missed this great night you really missed a great thing.To bad we have this nice Stevens Performing Art center and the place wasn't even half full.We need to start thinking outside of our boxes Pocatello.It had a little bit of country and little bit of jazz and a whole lot of fellings and fun to it.The next time the band JJ Grey and Mofro will be in town I hope that getting front row seats will be very hard as that will mean that Pocatello woke up and went out of their comfort zone and then they will also have one of the best experience of their life.Must say that the mood even got to me and I had to get up and shake a little thanks to one of the ladies who came and was up moving to the music and it felt good to fell young again.Lets start supporting this great city we live in and get out and do things that are down right fun!!!!!! |
