master mixers rework the talents of such diverse acts as Depeche Mode, Count Basic and Bone Thugs 'N' Harmony just to name a few.Disc one is more downbeat and if you don't watch out you could be (zzzz) chilling more than you wanted.The end result is music that is sensual and intimate, stylish and visceral and at times even eerie.The laid back sound is the perfect back drop at the end of a hectic urban day of survival, music to chill to.Kruder and Dorfmeister have a kind of Simon and Garfunkel symbiosis, but with down tempo ambient electronica.I've heard some people compare them to Thievery Corporation, but I don't find that many similarities.Kruder and Dorfmeister are less 80's synth referential (oy vey, "referential", sorry...The first cd is terrific, but I have played and played the second.At the same time, the music is definitely mellow enough to just kick back and never leave the sofa.However, if you prefer albums whose tracks don't bleed into one another, this might rated items on Amazon...Going back and listening to this album again while at work today, I was struck by the fact that this album hasn't faded or become irrelevant even eight years after it's something we don't?First off, let me just say how much I really enjoy saying "Kruder And Dorfmeister."Anyway, now that I've gotten that out of the way, I think that the first time I heard of these two guys, it was a couple years ago when I bought a Depeche Mode remix single and they had reworked it into one of their trademark Session tracks (which is, incidentally, included on this disc).The next thing I knew, they were releasing mix discs left and right and seemed to be everywhere I turned.Reprazent off 1997s New Forms.Nearly the same thing has been done with Alex Reece's track "Jazz Master."The frantic beats are gone and are instead replaced with sort of a little samba line.Things get a little vocal on the next couple tracks with a reworking of Count Basic's "Speechless" and a completely different version (than what's on the original) of "Bug Powder Dust" from Bomb The Bass.If you've heard the original, it's something completely different, yet very listenable.David Holmes' "Gone" and go into nice workings of "Sofa Rockers" by the Sofa Surfers and a version of "Eastwest" by Mama Oliver."Boogie Woogie," which turns out to probably be the most ambient song on both discs."Where Should I Turn" by Sin.After listening to the disc, several things can be ascertained about Kruder and Dorfmeister.Even with the varying styles and amount of work that they've included on the two discs, almost every song is very listenable and many of them completely rock the funky beat.If you're not quite into kickin' it full bore and want something to lay back and chill out to, look
