must become the soundscape. It requires complete concentration and pinpoint
focus.He is
able to go many ways with his sound design. This soundscape is for looking at
some of the darker aspects of life.Curiously, it is not an uncomfortable experience. While those
qualities seem to be mutually exclusive, the concept works here.Oophoi, nee
Gianluigi Gasparetti. These wide atmospheres are pure minimalism. This is outstanding meditation and relaxation
music. There are no sequences to get in the way and no orchestral passages.Oophoi

Hypnos Recordings
www.Oophoi is Gianluigi Gasparetti (Gigi) .He is a master at using
silence as an instrument and as an important component of his sound design.Athlit is his first Hypnos release and his first CD widely available in
the USA.Given the chance to display his awesome skills to a wider audience,
Gigi takes full advantage of the opportunity.Deep drones carry the flow as Gigi surrounds them with cloudy atmospheres and
organic textures. While the soundscape is neither majestic nor energetic, it
is regal and dramatic. He does that by meeting them on their level and walking with them to the
deeper zones of his soundworld. This is another great CD from Mike Griffin and Hypnos recordings. It is essential electronic minimalism.Wouivre is a set of very deep, very subtle minimalism from
Oophoi, nee Gianluigi Gasparetti (Gigi) and Klaus Wiese.Klaus is an expert
with bows and strings.Oddly, Gigi performs on those on this disc. This is as dark
as it gets. The dark surroundings allow for examinations of the less acceptable
sides of the psyche. While there, listeners are invited to see the darker
regions of the self.Operating a
motor vehicle or other heavy equipment is not recommended either.GO BACK

Oophoi is the moniker used by Italian composer Gianluigi Gasparetti who is also the editor of Deep Listenings, an Italian language magazine dedicated to electroacoustic music. The Bardo of the title is a Buddhist term referring to a meditative rite of passage from Life to Death.Electronics, bells, gongs, Tibetan singing bowls, various percussion, and ghostly voices provide color and embellishment though the mantric drones and their gradual evolution are the primary focus.Crossing The Bridge Of Existence The Eternal Cycle".Standard percussion and bells and are more in evidence that the previous tracks and the music begins to reach almost symphonic levels while still retaining it's meditative (though intense) quality. And for those who enjoy the symphonics of "Chonyi Bardo", "Sipai Bardo" reaches even higher levels of volume and intensity. In summary, Bardo is a work of both subtlety and majesty that succeeds in creating variety within the scope of a single sound theme.Click your browser's BACK button to return to the previous page. |
