Musical Days of Berlin (the City...Palast Orchester embodies the high style and musical glory of the 20's and 30's.Palast Orchester embodies the high style and musical glory of the 20's and 30's and has been heard by adoring audiences in The United States, Shanghai, Paris, Berlin, Moscow, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Vienna, Amsterdam and Rome performing over 150 concerts a year.No one Ever Calls, No one Has a Care for Me.Berlin's Theaterball in 1987, they were met with thunderous enthusiasm and in the following few years received numerous invitations and started to tour aggressively.In 2002 the Palast Orchester had the honor of opening the Viennese Festival Weeks for an audience of 40,000 and in the same year his orchestra made its USA premiere at Royce Hall in Los Angeles and the Fox Theater in Atlanta GA.Palast Orchester made their Carnegie Hall debut at Zankel Hall and also toured to Purchase NY (SUNY) and Philadelphia (Kimmel Center).Berlin in Lights Festival in Fall 2007.Raabe says of the Palast Orchester.It was an elegant way of snubbing.Is it the lyrics and the melodies?Could it be the pomp and circumstance of the 20s?Palast Orchester perform dance and film music from the golden age of songwriting in Germany, the United States, and beyond.Major funding has also been provided by Mercedes and Sid Bass, and The Andrew W.Mercantil (Venezuela), and the National Endowment for the Arts.Additional funding provided by Axel Springer AG, GWFF USA Inc.So now and again people do call him.At the age of 18 he fled from the influence of the local diocese and moved to the city that, although then surrounded by the Wall, was still liberal minded and would later become the cradle of his fame: Berlin.It proved fortunate to have founded the Palast Orchester in 1986.The 1990s were important for Max Raabe.And finally there was Werner Herzog: in The Invincible, Raabe, once again appearing with the Palast Orchester, plays a master of ceremonies in the 1930s.Raabe has no difficulties entertaining his audience for the evening, accompanied solely by his longtime pianist, Christoph Israel.Palast Orchester has branched out into both classical and pop music.Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Cologne, and Bremen followed.For further information, please visit palastorchester. |
