| CREATE YOUR PLAYLIST NOW!The beacon of Indian classical music Partho Sarothy is one of the great Indian classical musicians of the current generation.Partho plays Sarod and was invited to Germany to give a taste of his music.We caught him while he was in Hamburg to perform to a packed audience at the Rudolf Steiner Haus.Initially I was not aware of music.That is how I started playing the sarod, under the guidance of my father who was the student of Pt.Slowly I started developing interest in sarod and now i can't
part with sarod.What really contributed in the making of Partho Sarothy?How did you get in touch with your guru?My father was my first guru and he took me to Ustad Dhyanesh Khan under whom I spent several years.After learning from him I went to Pt Ravi Shankar.What role did your guru play in your development as a
musician?He used to take me with him to various concerts all around the world.What are the new experiments that you are doing with your
music?In the near future i have the wish to start experimenting with other western and eastern musicians.Every instrument has it's own beauty.Still, personally i like sarod because of it's majestic sound.And what makes you different from other musicians who play the same
instrument?Is music essentially spiritual?Whenever I perform good, I always feel divine because by the way the artist and the audience interact, the atmosphere becomes divine.When you listen to good music, your mind becomes relaxed and tension free.In view of the tremendous polpularity of bollywood and western pop music, do you think that classical music is still important in India and abroad?What do you think about making film music?Indian classical or Indian pop music.It touches my heart when the audience in Germany appreciates my music.Sarothy, thank you very much for giving us this
