Runrig's first album was released in 1978."Play Gaelic, the first legendary recording".The second album, The Highland Connection, was released a year later on the band's own label, Ridge Records. The music is there to match the ambitions and Runrig were now well on the way in moulding their unique sound."Loch Lomond" as their first single. They signed to a small label called Simple Records in 1984, who almost killed the band off; two singles were released. The band broke loose from Simple and returned to their Ridge Label. They engaged the services of producer Chris Harley (a.Chris Rainbow) who brought to their recordings the benefit of his experience as a solo artist and a singer with The Alan Parsons Project.Runrig's most successful run, during which time they achieved placings in both the UK albums and singles charts and toured extensively.Runrig played their first U.In the audience were fans from as far away as Texas, Alabama, Florida, Colorado, Minnesota, and Scotland. While the bulk of their 2007 tour is scheduled for Denmark, Germany, and England, an outdoor show, titled "Beat the Drum," was held at Loch Ness on Saturday, 18th August 2007.It was staged at Borlum Farm, Drumnadrochit.Runrig being the headline act. This was released on 12th November and includes the 'Tartan Army' (Scotland's Hampden Football Supporters), including Rod Stewart, on backing vocals.See Copyrights for details. The band and everyone here at Runrig would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!We wish you all the best and would like to thank you for your support during this amazing year!...For anyone who missed the show, you can check out Bruce dancing with Jackie Bird etc. After working well into the night and a brief stop for a few hours sleep it was back into the studio again at first light to complete the mix.....Runrig is a band I've been listening to a bit too much for the last few years."Listen closely, to what I say; I'm gonna sing it once and for all; If I can't earn an honest buck; You'll see my picture on the post office wall...".Bagpipes, Reels, and Rock n Roll?My personal favorite is their first album "Unleashed."Then maybe you'll want to dig more, and start listening to Richard Thompson, though its hard to say where to start there. My favorite song might be "Night Comes In" on the "Guitar, Vocal" album. To put this section all together, my favorite Sandy Denny track is probably the version of "A Sailor's Life" by Fairport Convention on the Richard Thompson compilation, "Watching the Dark" (though the Sandy Denny box set is also well worth the price).Hard (for me anyway) to describe though. If you do like the first album, subsequent ones might be somewhat of a disappointment, but "Live at Raji's" is great (I only have "Days..."My favorite is "Live at the Whiskey."Wipe Out, but its great. The classic albums are probably Flamingo and Teenage Head, but I like "Still Shakin'", which had one side compiled from those two albums, and the other side "unreleased" stuff (including one Randy Newman song, and a six minute Louie, Louie)."Turn on the News" from Zen Arcade.IMO a couple of classics there, "2541" for one.Nova Mob albums, the untitled one is great, and "Last Days of Pompeii" is a bit hard to listen to, though I do really like "Admiral of the Fire" and its reprise. Not for your average tastes. The "Generic" album is a classic, I also like the double live one..."One Hundred Years from Now" on the Byrds "Sweetheart ..."The Heartbreakers (no, not Tom Petty and ...Larry Wall Shrine
