| Well I'm not even sure on what day we've reached but that doesn't seem
so important anymore, because the record is a couple of days from being
completely done!!I'm really sorry about that.We
spent 2 days adding cool sounds, beats and textures to the music and it
made everything sound even better.That meant
going over every single track and making sure that they were to our
liking.Montreal studio was done!On september 26th, we went to a studio in LA to work with DJ Lethal.Lethal was the DJ in House of Pain ("Jump Around"!He ended up working mostly on one song "Your love is just a Lie" but man
did he kill it!We wrote new lines all day and then Pierre went
in the vocal booth and nailed it.We did the same thing the next day for
a song called "Generation".We ended finishing that at 3:30am on the very
last day of recording.Since then, everyday has brought us closer to a truly finished record
with songs being mixed one by one in LA.We're so happy you have no
idea.But it feels so great to know that you guys are excited
to hear the new music.When we read you guys' comments on our myspace
page, in your emails and when we meet you in person and you tell us
you've been waiting for the new songs for so long, it just makes us more
excited to come out, play you our new stuff and start touring again.Your support and the desire to make the best album we could truly kept
us going over the last year.Honestly this is the best music we ever
made and we can't wait to share it with you.We took the
decision to challenge ourselves to grow as songwriters and as a band and
I think it really paid off.I'm so proud of this album I wouldn't change
a note on it and I really can't wait for you to hear it!So it's 1am friday night and no, no one is out on the town but rather everyone is staying late at the studio to work.Instead of vlogging all 5 guys are hard at work putting the finishing touches on all songs.It's a pretty long process but definately worth it when you hear the results.The guys have started saying it a little while ago now, but it seems like the record really is almost done.Chuck when he was wondering if he should record a new Vlog for you guys..Well it might be a national holiday for everyone else, but Simple Plan doesn't take vacation and is hard at work today too in the Studio.Pierre wanted to do a Vlog for you guys but with not much exciting happening today he didn't know what to say...Some were great, some were terrible and some were downright just weird.Sebastien did some rhythym's on a song called "Forever" and now Jeff is working on his parts.Of course it does, it was Sebastien's idea.Sorry Celine, hope you feel better!Pierre just took matters into his own hands and filmed his own vlog and posted it on the SP MySpace Channel.We were literally able to stand next to the car as it pulled into the garage.It would be like sitting on the bench at a hockey game!It even had a spare car up in the top.He even started his own label called Back40 records.So in keeping with sports....Last night was another great moment for me.I'm not forgetting about music at all.We're having an absolute blast recording and things are moving along fast as Pierre told you yesterday.David started a new bass track tonight for a song called Take My Hand.Anyways, I am about to go pop back in and see how he is doing.Take care, sleep well, talk soon..The guys have been taking sundays off so if I don't count sundays it is day 16...As you've probably read, things are moving along quite nicely.It's 19h33 right now and as I type this the guys are putting the final touches on "Your Love is a Lie".Tomorrow should be a little more exciting so I'll try to get you guys a video...Playing guitar is fun but we actually did this one part in a song where pierre, david and I all got around the same mic to sing this "gang vocal".Loving every single page of it, i i think i will stay off the comment boards to make sure none of you guys try to spoil it.Nah, just kidding, i know you would never do that, you guys are cool.Also, still once a week, Pat and I get to the studio a little earlier than everyone to make sure we have time to record a "Man of the Hour Hour" for you listening pleasure and for our own entertainment.Before i forget, this past saturday we went out in Montreal to a little terrace and we had the best of times.Just wanted you people to know that.We have started and almost finished 6 songs instrumentally.And Stuey the studio dog just farted so i can't stay where i'm sitting much longer.Talk to you next monday, or i might be featured at a vlog near you.It can get a little confusing when you have a bunch of songs to record, with many parts to each.By the time this baby is full of X's, the record will be coming your way.In the mean time, here's Chuck and David putting it up and filling in the first completed parts.It's quite a process I tell ya, but going well.Also, I know that Jeff is in the process of writting a blog rigth now, so you'll get to experience things from his perspective...That's it from the SP Studio for now, more soon.No more moving around, at least for a couple of weeks, as the guys will be recording pretty much the rest of the album here.Jealous that he doesn't know how to do it on his own, he asked Sebastien to join him.Here's what they had to say.This is a good thing, and the actual recording looks like it's going to start ahead of schedule!Very nice, but not as nice as hearing it directly from the horse's mouth.We had dinner at the hotel last night and everyone was falling asleep...The five guys are all together today locked away in a studio starting day one of the recording process.So that's pretty much the game plan for the next week or so and then once all the songs have been polished, drums will start and only once that is done are we going back to Montreal to record the rest.I'll be putting that to good use.In the mean time, here's the first pic of the 3rd record: The whole crew with Dave Fortman, Jeremy who's engineering and Eric, the guys' manager.Chuck has created his own personnal MySpace in an effort to try to get more friends than Pierre.It's just a small part, but just enough to get your Jeff fix until the boys hit the studio in 2 weeks.Until then, here are a few screen shots from the movie, check it out!In a vlog posted on the Simple Plan Myspace, Chuck and Pierre finally announced an official start date for the studio...July 1st the boys will be start recording their third album.Also, we set up a YouTube channel for Simple Plan, so you can see these little videos we add before your friends by subscribing and being contacted everytime a new video goes up.There's an old saying that says that "No news is good news" and that certainly seems to be the case with the boys right now.The studio is coming up, it's getting so close I can smell it!MuchMusic followed Simple Plan on their trip to Punta Cana recently, and now Canadian fans get to see what went down!Tune into Exposed: Simple Plan in Punta Cana on MuchMusic Wednesday, March 14th at 4:30pm!It repeats on Thursday March 15th at 12:30am and 10:00am.With press and soundcheck in the afternoon, there wasn't much time to visit but with an early wake up, Chuck and Sebastien managed to squeeze in a visit of Rocinha, the biggest Favela in Rio.Carlos, our guide for the tour, informed us that he was also a hangliding instructor and next thing you know, without thinking twice, Chuck and Seb we're jumping off a mountain..While Chuck and Sebastien we're busy visiting Rio, Pierre had bigger things to do, like breaking his nose.Still Not Getting Plan Fight Off 'Lazy' Image, Court Stefani, Will.Simple Plan drummer Chuck Comeau wants everyone to know that his band is anything but the bunch of slackers the press has painted them to be."When I started reading that, it really bummed me out, 'cause we're workaholics," Comeau sighed."We took a month off after touring for almost a year, and that was our first time off in almost seven years.We've written almost every single day."Montreal hometown and San Diego."We have all these riffs and melodies and slow and fast parts, it's like a puzzle.It's going to define where we're going to go for the next two years, and also where the next record is going to go.It's a turning point for our band, and we want to get it right.""After you put together the choruses and the verses, you know if you've got something special.We're sort of like our own A+R guys."Comeau said the band hasn't decided who'll produce the new album, but it's leaning towards working once again with Bob Rock, who helmed the sessions for 2004's Still Not Getting Any ...We've met them, and they're both super nice.So put that in your article, and maybe something will happen."In the meantime, Comeau said Simple Plan will continue writing, and they hope to have their third album in stores by April or May."We might never have the buzz we had after our first record, but we can become a band that's a staple and Watch Simple Plan's new video "When I'm Gone" right here!Seven million copies sold worldwide.Atlantic rockers Simple Plan simply seem to have it locked.As you'd expect from any band that would call its debut album "NO PADS, NO HELMETS...Change, of course, comes with some degree of apprehension, and the band doesn't hide the fact they felt a bit of trepidation as they began to explore the new territory of "SIMPLE PLAN."But, he adds, that was not necessarily a bad thing."It's good to be scared," the singer explains."You should be a little nervous.Simple Plan began working on the new album in the spring of 2006, shortly after wrapping up the touring cycle for "STILL NOT GETTING ANY."Simple Plan as one of the groups he wanted to work with as he expanded into the rock realm."Bouvier recalls that after that first session, "we were like, 'Oh, shit, we've got something really fresh here!The excitement and enthusiasm they felt was so strong it gave the band its second wind."Back in San Diego, Bouvier and Comeau started doing just that, enlisting the help of an old friend, Arnold Lanni (Our Lady Peace, Finger Eleven), the man who produced Simple Plan's first album.That creative chemistry they had with Lanni when they first worked together was still very much intact.We've always been very comfortable working with Arnold, and it was awesome to collaborate with him again," says Comeau.We were a little surprised at first," remembers guitarist Sebastien Lefebvre, "but it was OK.And, after being in a band for seven years, you want to still be excited about the music you're making.When we heard those ideas Danja had it was like, full speed ahead..."Dave Fortman was chosen to help achieve the sonic fusion Simple Plan envisioned as it recorded "SIMPLE PLAN" in Los Angeles and Montreal."He was the one who actually felt the most excited about the record and making this different kind of hybrid," Bouvier says.Max Martin, who helped the group finish "Generation.""We feel like it really represents us," Bouvier explains.The musical experiments also inspired Bouvier and Comeau to pen some of their most focused and provocative lyrics to date.And though the swelling "I Can Wait Forever" is an unconditional love song about Bouvier's current relationship, much of the rest of the album deals with dark and even bitter romantic tumult."It's a record about how we're feeling, so that's what reflects out of it."Stinco, "and I've believed since we started this band that a strong song always prevails.These are definitely songs we can stand behind and endorse, and I can't wait to play them live."I've ever been this excited about the band.FAN TOOLS
