| That said, when things go wrong it can become an unbearable situation on levels both personal and artistic.Moving on after such a loss seemed at first a daunting challenge.The Dirt Underneath where we would go out without all of the trappings and decorations of "The Big Rock Show" and put the emphasis on the songs and stories.He's an excellent guitar player but is best known for his amazing pedal steel abilities.During some troubled times, John's playing was one of the few things we could all agree on.When we all convened to work up The Dirt Underneath show, everyone came in with lots of new material and it became almost immediately apparent that the show's emphasis would be on working up our new album in front of a live audience over the course of the tour.Those happy accidents were recorded and captured on sixteen tracks of glorious 2" tape by our recording soul mate David Barbe at his Chase Park Transduction studio in Athens, GA.This is our sixth album with him and each time it gets better.In addition to having Spooner Oldham play on the album, this time also marked the first time we recorded songs by our bass player, Shonna Tucker.This time she showed up with two great songs she wrote the week before recording commenced.She then proceeded to write another at the studio.Some songs that are quieter than any we've ever recorded and some that rock harder than anything we've ever done.Every decision had been unanimous and we wanted the title to be also but there was always a dissenting vote.This story ends here with the completion of our best album.Long Live Rock and Roll.By Truckers are a rock band based in Athens, Georgia, though three out of five members (Mike Cooley, Patterson Hood, and Shonna Tucker) originally hail from The Shoals region of Northern Alabama.They currently record for New West Records.Patterson Hood (son of legendary bassist David Hood of the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section) and longtime friend and musical "partner in crime", Mike Cooley (grandson of the western swing fiddler Spade Cooley) in Athens, Georgia, in 1996.Southern Rock Opera, originally released independently on DBT's own Soul Dump Records on September 12, 2001, garnered praise from fans and critics alike.By Truckers were named Band of the Year from No Depression Magazine.Southern Rock Opera, they ran into a problem when they were left with only two guitarists (Cooley and Hood) following the departure of Rob Malone in late 2001.By Truckers, Isbell's compositions became as highly praised as those of Cooley and Hood.The end result was 2003's Decoration Day, which, like its predecessor, received praise across the board.Hicks was immediately replaced by studio bassist Shonna Tucker, then wife of guitarist Jason Isbell."Sounds Better in the Song."By Truckers released The Dirty South.Like Southern Rock Opera, The Dirty South was a concept album.These recording sessions, once again produced by David Barbe, resulted in DBT's seventh LP, A Blessing and a Curse.Tom Petty's influence on the band's sound is more prominent in this latest album as well.Neff first played with DBT on their 1998 debut LP, Gangstabilly, and played pedal steel on three subsequent albums, 1999's Pizza Deliverance, and 2003's Decoration Day.On April 5, 2007 Jason Isbell announced that he was no longer a member of the band.The following day, Patterson Hood confirmed the break on the official site.Shortly after Isbell's departure, on April 20, 2007, Patterson Hood announced via the band's website that the legendary "swamper" and longtime friend of The Hood Family, Spooner Oldham, would be joining the band playing keyboard for a string of acoustic performances called "The Dirt Underneath Tour".Hood revealed the title of their upcoming record to be Brighter Than Creation's Dark named after a line in a Cooley song entitled "Checkout Time In Vegas".Artist Wes Freed will be providing the artwork, and David Barbie will once again be producing for the band.The band's online presence has been maintained by Jenn Bryant and cover art and posters are mostly done by Wes Freed.All text is available under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License.See Copyrights for details.Currently on tour for their seventh album, the band visited the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.By Truckers features three guitarists and songwriters: Patterson Hood, Mike Cooley and Jason Isbell, along with bassist Shonna Tucker and drummer Brad Morgan.The band's songs tell tales of drunks, widespread poverty, loveable losers and stubborn good ol' boys set against a backdrop of trailer parks and southern despair.FolkSo Your Tiny Black Heart Is Broken'Hannah Montana' Star Kicks off Concert Tour'Rolling Stone' Names M.Sign in to get personalized recommendations.Hours() * 3600 + newCurrentTime.Ships from and sold by Amazon.Want it delivered Thursday, February 14?Day Shipping at checkout.Amazon MP3 Downloads store.More to Explore: See the video for "Supernatural Superserious," from R.Drive By Truckers
