tracks to send me of this great artist?Edgar was my first concert 1971'I AIN'T BEEN THE SAME SINCE.Also, i didn't like how they had to change the coloring, just because they thought the fact he was an Albino was too horrifying for the televison at the time. There is only one man to blame for all this: Jimi Hendrix! The guitarist kicks ass but looks like he,s 12 years old!I'd heard this song many times over, but I didn't know who it was by.Would you like to comment?Johnny Edgar Winter Rick Derringer !!!Edgar Winter (born December 28, 1946 in Beaumont, Texas) is an American musician who had significant success in the 1970s and 1980s.He is the second son of John and Edwina Winter, who were very much responsible for Edgar and his older brother Johnny Winter's early musical awareness. Both Edgar and Johnny have albinism. In 1972 he formed The Edgar Winter Group which included Dan Hartman, Ronnie Montrose and Chuck Ruff.May 1973 and the top 15 single Free Ride; which reached number 14 that same year, then the album Shock Treatment which featured the song "Easy Street".The preponderance of vocals and songwriting by Hartman on Shock Treatment led to the release of Jasmine Nightdreams with all vocals by Winter. It was nominally a solo album, but it used the same personnel as the Edgar Winter Group.Edgar Winter Group with Rick Derringer, featuring songs and vocals by Derringer. This album too performed below expectations, so the White Trash was reformed. They recorded Recycled, and toured as an opening act to support the album. The tour was cut short by a tragic plane crash, which killed some members of the tour's headliner, Lynyrd Skynyrd. In 2005, "Frankenstein" was featured in the PlayStation 2 music video game Guitar Hero. This album's words and music were written by Scientology founder L.Ron Hubbard supposedly left detailed instructions and audio tapes for the musicians and producers to follow when making the album.Winter had glowing words for Hubbard when he wrote, "Ron's technical insight of the recording process was outstanding."Soundtracks Edgar Winter's songs have been featured in the soundtracks of these films: Invincible (2006) Tupac: Resurrection (2003) Knockaround Guys (2001) Duets (2000) You're Dead...This page was last modified 20:19, 1 January 2008.All text is available under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License.See Copyrights popular live performance (Roadwork). The concept seems to be to take every type of music that has appealed to rock audiences in the last three years, and weave it all together into a cohesive album. As pure music, it provides a delightfully smooth roller coaster ride.Further reading onSuper Seventies RockSite!Album Review:Shock Treatment Album Review:The Edgar Winter Groupwith Rick Derringer Album Review:Edgar Winter's White Trash Single Review:"Frankenstein"Only time will tell whether this ambitious work is truly great, but musically it is clearly excellent.Ronnie Montrose, whose guitar was so effective on recent Van Morrison albums, is given even more freedom here.Chuck Ruff on drums and Dan Hartman who sings and plays bass are new names to me, but they make for a solid punchy rhythm section. The material includes a splendid country song, "Round and Round," a Crosby, Stills and Nash type ditty, "Alta Mira," an unbearably sweet "Autumn," several hard driving rockers and a couple of personal statements from Edgar. As to the latter, he is no Van Morrison, but his lyrics show great sensitivity at times, communicating loneliness, frustration and struggle as well as exuberance and joyous boogie.Like a Stones album, you know it took hours of rehearsal and planning, yet it really does sound like it might have been produced in a single drunken evening of inspiration.Edgar Winter is the newest adherent to "glam rock" "jewel sexuality."However, it's the music inside that has undergone the real transformation.Tune in to "Autumn," "When It Comes" and "Round and Round."This may be heavy, but it's fast, which means real rock and roll after the attempted progress and hyperboogie. And instead of hyperthyroid Jerry LaCroix we get Dan Hartman, who knows enough about songs to come up with "Free Ride," and Ronnie Montrose, who knows enough about guitar to get by.And not only that but he wears lipstick, eye makeup, and a cheek stud on the cover. The commercial hits were "Free Ride" and "Frankenstein."Music Guide to Rock, 1995.Access one of the biggest Oldies librarieson the net with Real Networks' Rhapsody."Frankenstein," and the platinum album from which it was culled, They Only Come Out at Night, have changed all of that. But it mainly served to prove to him that the rock and soul he had played for cash in Texas was just as artistically worthy as the more esoteric stuff he had played after hours for friends.Roll Woman" are indicative of an occasional strained attempt to become more commercial which leads them into a certain silliness. At their best the Edgar Winter Group sounds like an American Led Zeppelin.Edgar Winter's songwriting is more sould inflected. He is one of the very few white musicians who has had the good taste to pick up on the directions pointed by Stevie Wonder and Sly Stone. On "Do Like Me" Winter's synthesizer sounds especially like Wonder, and his guttural vocal is out of the Sly handbook.Since his playing and production are so dominant in the group, this may seem only a minor misfortune. But the problem is accentuated because his lyrics are just the kind of facile, unpretentious stuff Hartman's and Winter's never are: He doesn't overreach for poetry, he just tries to write a song.Shock Treatment is fun to listen to, even if it doesn't produce anything substantial to ponder after it's over.Group member Dan Hartman, who wrote the majority of the cuts, is a truly outstanding vocalist and writer while Rick Derringer plays his usual choice guitar as well as handling production chores.Best cuts: "Easy Street," "Sundown," "Someone Take My Heart Away," "Maybe Someday You'll Call My Name."The latest Edgar Winter Group had all the ingredients necessary to become such a band, and to be very truthful about the matter I dropped their latest album on my turntable fully expecting to be bored to tears."Some Kinda Animal" and "Queen Of My Dreams."Ruff anchors the proceedings with solid forceful drumming from beginning to end.At least when he brought out his saxophone you could say he was different.Which is no doubt why he spends so much time with his synthesizer.Robert Christgau, Christgau's Record Guide, 1981.Or try love this album. He wound up releasing two albums in 1975, this one, and "Jasmine Nightdreams", which is an absolute STELLAR album. If you enjoy the talent and virtuosity of Edgar Winter, this album definitely has a place in your collection. Was this review helpful to you?Your vote will be counted and will appear on the product page within 24 hours."The Musical Nector Of The Rock Gods!As far as I am aware this is the very last studio recording of the Edgar Winter Group. But the chemistry this group created resulted in a lot of the old magic that sustained them during the "Free Ride" era still being there. On "People Music" he and Edgar rock out to perfection on one of the very best rockers the two ever collaberated on."Nothin' Good Comes Easy".The Edgar Winter Group had every intention of going out with a bang not a whimper.B,soul and even some disco on the latter listed recording. This was the third and final album for the Edgar Winter Group.Unlike on previous albums, Rick Derringer does more than play lead guitar, he sings and writes songs.Unfortunately, his songs here are not that good. Was this review helpful to you?Unearth a gem from 1975 The Edgar Winter Group with Rick
