2.International Submarine Band, plus any of a loose coalition of musicians.In 1968, to deliberately concentrate on creating and playing music without the distractions of the music industry, the original Brothers moved from Los Angeles to New York City."The Flying Burrito Brothers East" after Parsons' group became famous.Sweetheart of the Rodeo.Nudie's Rodeo Tailors (Parsons's had marijuana leaf embroidery) and began a period of intensely fruitful creativity.In fact, the FBB were among the initial acts on the stage at the Rolling Stones' infamous "Altamont" concert on December 1969, and were on stage when one of the first fights broke out in front of the stage, as documented in the film, Gimme Shelter.Bernie Leadon and drummer Michael Clarke (of The Byrds).Kleinow then left to become a session musician and Leadon joined The Eagles.Hillman and Perkins joined Manassas, while Berline, Bush and Wertz formed Country Gazette.Roberts reassembled a new group for a 1973 European tour, and then began a solo career before forming Firefall with Michael Clarke.As Gram Parsons's influence and fame grew, so did interest in the Flying Burrito Brothers, leading to the release of Honky Tonks (1974), a double album, and the recreation of the band by Kleinow and Ethridge in 1975.Headed by songwriter and guitarist John Beland and Gib Guilbeau, and normally featuring Sneaky Pete, this incarnation scored moderately well on the Country charts in the early 1980s.Sneaky created a Burritos spinoff in his new band Burrito Deluxe, which featured Carlton Moody on lead vocals and Garth Hudson from The Band on keyboards.While a good band, there has never been any real continuity with the true Burritos and this group can not be considered anything more than a spinoff.Pete however, left the band due to illness in 2005, leaving no direct lineage to the original masters.Gram Parsons died on September 19, 1973.Compilation albums

The titular Christine was Miss Christine Frka, one of the GTOs with Pamela DesBarres.The song is mistakenly credited to Spooner Oldham and Penn on several Burritos releases."Do Right Woman" was also written by Dan Penn and Chips Moman and made famous by Aretha Franklin in 1967.Session man Eddie Hoh drummed on two cuts; he left and the band hired Sam Goldstein, a friend of Sneaky Pete Kleinow.To in the Byrds, he and Chris Hillman discussed forming a band that would play country music with a rock 'n' roll attitude.They even recorded a few sessions with Clarence White, Gene Parsons, and Gib Guilbeau in what Gene Parsons called a "prototype Burrito Brothers."Meanwhile, White and Gene Parsons had become Byrds.Once Hillman quit the Byrds, Parsons, back from London, looked him up.Parsons had already lined up a bassist in Chris Ethridge, who had been in the second version of the International Submarine Band and played on the LP.Instead, they brought in Sneaky Pete Kleinow on steel guitar.Kleinow was a known quantity: he had played steel behind the Sweetheart Byrds at a few live gigs in early '68.They decided to borrow the name of Ian Dunlop's band, by this time relocated to New York: the Flying Burrito Brothers.Parsons and Hillman got a house in the San Fernando Valley and dubbed it "Burrito Manor."Reseda in 1968 when I was getting a divorce and so was he and we shared a house and we were putting the Burritos together then.We didn't have a drummer, we had Chris Ethridge and Sneaky Pete.We woke up in the morning and we would write every morning....The two wrote some of the most memorable tunes of both their careers during this period, including "Christine's Tune (Devil in Disguise)," "Wheels," "Juanita," and "Sin City," Hillman's jab at Byrds manager Larry Spector.ISB drummer Jon Corneal played on half the songs and three different session drummers handled the rest.Nudie suit embroidered with the marijuana leaves, pills and naked ladies that festooned Corneal and Michael Clarke (who traded places), guitarist and vocalist Bernie Leadon, fiddler Byron Berline, bassist Roger Bush, and steelie Don Beck.The Rolling Stones' version appears on Sticky Fingers (London, 1971).In response, they organized a free festival near San Francisco, featuring local acts the Grateful Dead, Santana, and the Jefferson Airplane.Young and the Flying Burrito Brothers were also on the bill.It was announced only four days ahead of time; the site was changed to Altamont Raceway one day before the show; a stage had to be cobbled together in one day; and security had to be found.The Grateful Dead suggested their friends the Hell's Angels as security.The tragic events were captured on film in the Maysles Brothers documentary, Gimme Shelter (1970).The Flying Burrito him at all.At Hillman's suggestion, the band hired Jim Dickson to produce their next album.Submarine Band era, "Lazy Days."Harlan Howard cover ("Image of Me") and a traditional country gospel number ("Farther Along") turned out well enough, as did a song Parsons got from his chums the Rolling Stones: "Wild Horses."Meanwhile, Parsons's increasing fear of flight limited the group to local appearances.Jim Dickson hustled the Burritos into Hollywood's new Sound Factory to record some classic country songs.Recollections differ on whether these tracks were intended as sessions or merely rehearsals; the haphazard character of many of them suggest the latter.The Sleepless tracks do reveal a lot about the Burritos' influences.West Coast acts: "Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down" and "Sing
