8.Ocean Avenue remained empty for thirteen months after the DeFeo murders.It also had a swimming pool and a boathouse, as it overlooked a river.Kathy had three children from a previous marriage, Daniel, 9, Christopher, 7, and Melissa (Missy), 5.After discussing the matter, they decided that it was not an issue.Much of the DeFeo family furniture was still in the house, since it had been Father Pecoraro did visit the house but experienced nothing unusual there.In the interview, he repeated the claim that he heard a voice saying "Get out", but stopped short of giving it a paranormal origin.The claim made in Chapter 11 of the book that the house was built on a site where the local Shinnecock Indians had once abandoned the mentally ill and the dying was rejected by local Native 1976 the house was investigated by Ed and Lorraine Warren, a husband and wife team described as demonologists, together with a crew from the television station Channel 5 New York.The photograph did not emerge into the public domain until 1979, when George and Kathy Lutz and Rod Steiger appeared on The Merv Griffin Show to promote the release of the first film.The Warrens and Holzer have suggested that the house is occupied by malevolent spirits due to its past history.In recent years many websites devoted to The Amityville Horror have been created, often taking a strong stance either for or against the events.Virtually every aspect of the story has been disputed at some point, and rivalry between researchers has been a longstanding feature of the case.The house known as 112 Ocean previous marriage in tow, buy the vacant house at a steal, although
they hesitate a bit once they learn why it's so cheap.The film recounts their
very brief but tumultuous stay at the home the Lutz's believed would be
their dream home, but which turned into a nightmare.Unfortunately, although some aspects of
this remake are better in my view, it suffers from a host of new
problems.In my view, there are two primary problems, with at least one a bit

much close framing.The transition from scene to
scene often feels almost arbitrary.Even though Reynolds does a great
job in his transformation as George Lutz (and the acting is superb all

seems like they just forgot to add the day titles for half of the
scenes.Overall the final cut gives an impression of being hastily put
together.The house
itself is impressive, as it needs to be, and the overall style of the
film is nicely atmospheric.Williams has a number
of Kiss and Cooper images in the film.There are instances
of quickly changing film stocks and processing methods, and so on.But for me, it's not something I would subtract points
for either.Maybe the most surprising fact is that this version of Amityville
Horror is so close, structurally, to the original.Whether this is positive or not depends on your opinion of the
original film, and just how highly you cherish originality for its own
