| The Porkers are a ska band from Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.Porkers in 1990 after their regular Newcastle venue refused to present them with their old name.In 1994, their debut album Grunt!The album was a mixture of studio and live tracks, and included covers of Devo's Mongoloid and Radio Birdman's Aloha Steve and Danno.The Porkers have toured extensively throughout Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Germany and Japan (a live album recorded in Japan was released in 2004).In Australia, they have supported groups such as No Doubt, Fishbone, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and catchy upbeat ska.In 1990 they changed their name to The Porkers and released 'Tired of being Pork Hunts' a 3 track 7" EP that reached no.After a few stops and starts they returned in 1994 with a bold new edge to their sound and released the debut album 'Grunt!Not bad, pretty good, not bad' and saw the Porkers tour Germany and New Zealand.Meanwhile the Porkers built up their live reputation sharing stages with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Rancid, NOFX, Fishbone, No Doubt to name but a few, and appearing on the Australian festival circuit appearing at The Big Day Out, The Falls, Homebake, Livid and the 1998 and 1999 Vans Warped tour which saw them secure themselves a spot on the American leg of Vans Warped in 1999.The Porkers recorded their third album and gathered steam for the next assault
