a9AdsViewNamespace.Why not be the first to suggest a search for which it should appear?While I enjoyed their previous record, Based On A True Story, this new release is a step up in quality for The Starting Line."Are You Alone" flirts a little with emo territory.Could Be Wrong" is another great track, though it sometimes starts to sound like a couple of the other tracks.The album closes on a strong note with "What You Want," which does not depart from the sound of the album at all.One of the strengths of The Starting Line is that they execute their sound very well.Was this review helpful to you?"Based On a True Story."And while that album had its moments, it was at the very least a bizarre recording.The songs and lyrics were good but the hooks were not crisp and the sound they were going for was not clear.Also, for the first time, the band has written a ballad with a great melody.Was this review helpful to you?Floating off in a new direction...Unlike most people, I wasn't a huge fan of The Starting Line until Based On A True Story.They give us elements of both albums while bringing something new and original to the table.There are several songs that after one listen you will be hooked.This album is contagious and you will want to listen to it again and again.This song hits heavy and Kenny Vasoli's vocals roar through the heavy drums and thick guitar lines.The title track is introducing to The Starting Line's fans that the band has changed their sound and no longer are going to write songs for the teenage punk crowd.This is the single that is sure to break new ground for The Starting Line.It has the energy of a song off of SILYMI, but it has a much more original sound.The chorus reminds me a bit of something that the Shins would do.Many bands singers go through problems with their voice, and Kenny is expressing what it's like when his voice goes, and how he longs to get his voice back so he can sing...This song blends both the heavy sounds of Direction and the softer sounds of the album.If you think you won't like this album...This is a fun song and is full of energy.It does have some very nice instrumentals with the guitars throughout.Towards the end of the song it picks up but I still put it into the ballad category due to the content of the song.The Starting Line has brought everything they have to the table in this album, and it shines far superior to anything they have done before.Was this review helpful to you?See all 12 customer reviews...First of all, I have been watching the starting line on stage since their first stint at the skate and surf festival.Published 2 months ago by Brian K.There's so much music to explore and thats what they do.The Boring Line
