energetic, beautiful music that the 2 recorded in 1996 that if released properly back then it could have been the start of a beautiful music collaboration. Now we get a CD full of Sabbath style grooves against Glenn's metallic wail.Other than that, it's pretty good, just nothing earthshattering from Iommi or Hughes. That's for those reviewers who want more of the metal Hughes. Was this review helpful to you?The opening of a new album of Tony Iommi riffs. It's one of those tracks I like, but I can't give you a concrete reason as to why.Anyway, after that, the big fast meaty part of the song really kicks in, and it's just awesome till the end of the song. But it doesn't just have that killer hook for me.The guitar solo midway through the song isn't a standard Iommi power solo. This is by far and away the best thing on the album. The last Sabbath album was released June 8, 1995."Fused" flies the legacy of Black Sabbath and the mastery that Tony Iommi has over the fretboard magnificently. There's little weakness on this album, it's strong from start to finish. If you have ever considered yourself a Sabbath fan, you owe it to yourself to buy this album. In fact, IOMMI was MUCH, MUCH better than this FUSED album.Problem 1: The modern production saps the power out of Ioomi's trademark guitar tone and dominance. It has a washed out sound to the guitars with too many cute studio tricks tossed in.Problem 2: Glenn Hughes.....FUSED is tons better than the crap most bands release now, but I dont listen to that stuff either.See all 57 customer reviews...Uninspired, monotonous and no surprises at all. When Ozzy left, I supported Iommi. When Dio left, I supported Iommi. But it's hard to get over Glenn Hughes's vocals.Published 20 months ago by K.He just sounds crazy and makes Tony Martin look still with, I don't know which), has teamed up with the former lead vocal man from Deep Purple, Glenn Hughes to make the awesome album "Fused."Starts off with Iommi layin on an awesome intro for the song, then all the other instruments kick in.Finally Glenn starts in with the perfect vocals for Iommi's guitar. This song shows the new sound of Tony Iommi.Glenn does a bit of yelling in this one.Doesn't really suit my taste, but that's just my opinion.Saviour of the Real: Starts off with a simple drum beat on the snare, then Iommi and the rest of the band kicks in.For the chorus, it gets a little heavier. Now here's the fun part.At about 3:05 into it, the song really picks up.It sorta picks up at the chorus. And of course(sorry if I sound redundant about solos)the solo is still pretty good. The intro riff is amazing; heavy and fast, just the way Tony plays. For some odd reason, it slows down just a bit for the chorus, but as soon as it's done, it goes right back into the same riff as the beginning.Face Your Fear: Starts off with a flippin sweet guitar riff, then enter drums and everything else. The riff changes at the verse, and again for the chorus. But it picks up a bit at the chorus, which I think is the best part of this song, along with the lyrics. They are, for lack of a better word, intriguing.Amazingly, there isn't a solo in this one.Go Insane: One word to describe this ending. When I can't breathe, I go insane.Back to the same drum beat as before, and another chorus.Tony is magic with a guitar in his hands.Eventually things settle down, then go back to the original chorus, then it fades out witht the same sound from the beginning.Sorry that it didn't go on the front page at all.On a more positive note, not a bad first review. This Message Edited On had that bootleg for then, and to me, it was better than the already released "Iommi" album, as it showed that Tony can do more than just Black Sabbath. So early in 2004 I find out that Tony has finally decided to dust off the old 8th Star material and properly clean it up and finally release it.The songs on here are of a uniformly high quality. It's apperance here has the riff altered slightly, so it's not directly the same. Was this review helpful to you?"Thanks for the valuable feedback you provided to other Amazon. Now, this "legal" CD proves that these 1996 recordings are REAL songs! To be honest, this would probably appeal more to fans of Deep Purple (Mk.Was this review helpful to you?Released in a proper format, can't wait for the next one! Many of us have owned this in a bootlegged form, whether tape or CD, it is nice to finally see and hear these songs receiving a proper release. For those of you new to these songs, this review is for you. This release is more for the Glenn Hughes fan than the Black Sabbath fan.Iommi plays some tasty riffs but really doesn't sound like the guitar player from Black Sabbath, does he?Some kind of bonus tracks other than the '96 sessions should have been included. The original tracks with Dave Holland (Judas Priest) on drums could have been added to see how the new versions stacked up to the supposedly raw demo versions from the bootleg.Only the man himself could tell us why, probably trying to distance himself from the situation, I don't know. Was this review helpful to you?See all 31 customer reviews...Great CD with the DEP Sessions to be remixed in 2004), Tony Iommi and Glenn Hughes return for their third outing together. And long may they continue to make more music together. Also joining them is drummer Kenny Aronoff who has played with the likes of Rod Stewart, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alice Cooper just to name a few and Bob Marlette, who plays keyboards on the album plus also play bass on a few tracks.Marlette also produced, engineered and mixed the album.Glenn's voice and bass work is in fine form as always.Other favourites include Wasted Again, Grace, the bluesy Deep Inside A Shell, What Are You Living For, The Spell (love that chorus) and the amazing I Go Insane which also happens to be the longest track on the album. No complaints there though. The Presidents of the Uni....Con Hughes Turner Project
