S.NL game the past few weeks and is up over 2k.Paul has very good skills and has great knowledge of the game as due several of my new friends from the Poker Crew I have joined.Push all in several times and pick up the limpers money and then try and bluff after flops.The turn 8h and the River....Yep you guessed it 4, for a straight.However the frustration has set in and I am just wondering if a better caliber player or a higher limit game things would be different.Ok I say to myself, screw it..."Yes I was a little hot and told myself this is enough!He is just on a rush tonite and when some one is as hot as him there is nothing you can do.So home I go and I log onto the computer and listen to Joe Sebok on his new radio show they are broadcasting from the Bahama's.Joe and Gavin Smith since their inception with the "Circuit" 2 years ago.Enjoy them immensely and when they talk Poker it's not only entertaining, but I have learned several quality play's by listening to their experiences.The same thoughts and gripes I have they are discussing!This is very good for me because the questions as to why, are being discussed and it shows I do have some poker knowledge and my pain is eased because the professionals have the same questions as I do and are looking for the same answers.As I go to sleep at night I think about the hands and if I could have laid them down.Joe have said the same thing.Poker and where it's heading.There was a lot of talking by the players who were not in some of the big pots and I found it to be distracting and slightly unprofessional at such a big game.Now I know Antonio pretty good.Met Brad Booth last year at the Crystal Park Casino in Compton for a 64 player heads up match he was in live on the Internet and when ever he see's me now he always says "Hello", but I bet he doesn't remember my name.Doyle, Now I know the talking must of bothered him.He sat there and watched as the other players jibber jabbered and when I met him at the 2006 WSOP I got goose bumps.Not very many people in this world have ever done that to me, but Mr.Barry, we have met because of my friendship with Joe Sebok and he is a very quiet man.People throughout history have always admired and have been star struck by the people they see on TV or in the Movies.We tend to try and be just like our "Heroes" in any sport and poker is no different.Poker books are generally bought by popularity instead of substance.So I started out with some of Howard Lederer's DVD's and then a book by Skalansky then to Harrington's books which are my bibles.Doyles book because it has every game in it,someday I may be able to enter a H.Tourney, now that I have a much better understanding of Poker, I can relate to Doyle's theories much better and I wouldn't give the book up.The majority of the Poker Professionals I have met are people I would have over to my home to meet my family.The recession has hit some families hard.Now people are going to have to jump in there cars and travel to a Brick and Mortar Casino to play.Their all in decisions will be hampered now by the reality of them having to get back into their car and drive home, instead of just logging into another game or turning off the computer and relaxing in the comfort of their home.However if you are the consummate professional and a gentleman of the game you will be popular forever!However I am in a new era now.Those trophies are my Al Bundy's and they mean nothing to me anymore.Sure it's nice to remember my High School and my early achievements in the Police Olympics, but Poker is my new sport now and I want more than just a jacket to wear to show i have won a tournament.We all have to have goals in our lives it keeps us going.We all need some type of trophies in our lives ...Lose at least 20 of the 30 pounds I put on due to my Achilles injury.My game has improved by leaps and bounds and with the coaching I have had the past few weeks and the talks I have had with two very excellent poker professionals, who took time out of their vacation from poker to school me, I will be putting my skills to the test in just a few short weeks at the LAPC.Many of my peers at work read my blog here and they enjoy playing poker also.February 24th is just around the corner.Well my girls want to watch the Rose Parade on TV with me.Parade,but there still too young to submit them to the cold and throngs of people.HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!It has truly taken the fun out of poker for me...This morning I go to San Manuel Indian Casino about 15 minutes from my home here in California.They have a nice poker room and the dealers and the staff have been there quite awhile.There are many regulars who show up everyday and I have been going there off and on for about 20 years.If they do I have a Pocket pair bigger than 10's and the Jackpot is 16,000 dollars.Kings but there is NO jackpot because the 10 is on the board...It looks like Toys R Us after a mad sale.When they are done I am going to take them to dinner.Hope your Christmas day was everything you hoped for this year.Just wanted to say Merry Christmas to the Wisehand Poker family and to all of the readers who support us everyday.May your day be filled with joy and the upcoming New Year be a very blessed one for you and your families.Hope you all have some great flops this coming year,except when I am K.After working from 5 am till 3 pm yesterday in all the rain and wind here in Los Angeles,I decided to go to Commerce casino with my friend Paul Valencia.Paul works for LAPD and we met last year at my Charity Event and since have become good friends.He did take some terrible beats this week and we even discussed a few hands.That's the great thing about having friends who have the passion of playing Poker whether its a live game or a tournament.People due not have respect for money here in Los Angeles.He chased the open ended straight to the river and laughed when I bet.The turn 8h and the River....Yep you guessed it 4, for a straight.Sick just Sick, but Paul is at the next table and we are waiting for a seat to open so we can sit at the same table and have some fun.Ok I say to myself, screw it..."Yes I was a little hot and told myself this is enough!He said he has played with this guy before and he has knowledge of the game but is a constant losing player.Paul was right and is to win just one tournament and constantly be on top of your game.We tend to try and be just like our "Heroes" in any sport and poker is no different.Doyle and found it to be just a little above me.Tourney, now that I have a much better understanding of Poker, I can relate to Doyle's theories much better and I wouldn't give the book up.The players must understand people are playing the game not only for the fun of it,but because of how television has made it look so easy and the money people are winning.The stars of the game have to be a representative of the game.However players are the backbone of Poker and they are the one's who bring the people in.If Poker was a sport of degenerates it would not be as popular or shown on TV as much as it is.The numbers say Poker is still a very popular and growing Sport.The On Line gaming ban seems to be a reality for USA players as more States Attorney General's show their support for the ban.Now people are going to have to jump in there cars and travel to a Brick and Mortar Casino to play.Poker growing and growing.All my sports trophies I earned as an Athlete growing up were nice at the time.Those trophies are my Al Bundy's and they mean nothing to me anymore.We all have to have goals in our lives it keeps us going.Poker Community nothing but the Best!Poker is a very tough life to live and the majority of you have represented the and share stories with those friends in time of need or just the fact we are able to wake up every morning and breathe and smell and see things so many others are unable to.These are the true gifts of
