| John Holmes and was allegedly masterminded by businessman and drug dealer Eddie Nash.Robbery and murders
The Wonderland Gang was based around three people who lived in a rented house at 8763 Wonderland Avenue in the Laurel Canyon section of Los Angeles; Joy Audrey Gold Miller, William R.DeVerell (Miller and DeVerell were a couple), and Ronald Launius, the leader.All three were involved in drug use and drug dealing.They had decided to rob the home of Eddie Nash (aka Adel Nasrallah), another drug dealer and wealthy owner of several night clubs.Holmes, whom Nash knew and liked, visited his house ostensibly to buy drugs.While doing so, Holmes scouted out the house and unlocked a back door.He then reported back to the gang.McCourt stayed with the car, a stolen Ford Granada, while the other three entered through the unlocked door.They stole money, drugs, and jewelry, and threatened to kill Nash and Diles.The group then returned to Wonderland Avenue to split up the money (shortchanging Holmes and McCourt).Holmes was found on the street in Hollywood, wearing one of the rings that had been stolen from Nash.Nash had Diles beat Holmes until he identified the people behind the robbery.This was witnessed by Scott Thorson, boyfriend of Liberace, who was picking up drugs at Nash's house.Miller, DeVerell, and Launius were present, along with Susan Launius (Launius' wife) and Barbara Richardson (Lind's girlfriend).All five were bludgeoned repeatedly with striated steel pipes.Susan Launius survived with serious injuries, but the other four were killed.According to court testimony, David Lind survived since he had spent the night at a San Fernando Valley motel, consuming drugs with a prostitute.Shortly after the news media reported the murders, Lind contacted the police and pointed the finger at Nash and Holmes and gave them an initial start to the investigation.Police action and trials
Leading the murder investigation were LAPD detectives Tom Lange and Robert Souza, who were to work on the O.Simpson murder case 13 years later.Earl Hanson and Mitchell Egers, successfully presented Holmes as one of the victims having been forced against his will by the real killers to give them entry to the house where the murders took place.Holmes was acquitted on June 16, 1982.He refused to testify and cooperate with authorities and spent some time in jail for contempt of court.Holmes died six years later on March 13, 1988 of AIDS at a VA Medical Center in Los Angeles.Holmes, came forward, saying that he had come to her house on the early morning after the killings with blood splattered all over his clothes, but did not tell her any further details.He also pleaded guilty to the RICO charges and to money laundering.He admitted to having ordered his associates to retrieve stolen property from the Wonderland house, which might have resulted in violence including murder, yet he denied having planned the murders that took place.The Wonderland Murders were covered in the 2003 film Wonderland, starring Val Kilmer as John "Johnny Wadd" Holmes.An account of the Wonderland Murders and the life and death of John Holmes appears in John Gilmore's 2005 book, L.Nightclub Owner Sentenced to Three Years in Prison", City News Service, 12 October 2001

Yahoo!Other No Good People, chapter from John Gilmore's L.See Copyrights for details.Wonderland Avenue: Tales of Glamour and Excess, first published in 1991, is the personal memoir of late author and Doors manager Danny Sugerman.His exposure to the decadent music industry world of parties, groupies, and drugs at such a young age would facilitate a relentless heroin addiction that very nearly killed him.Doors activities in LA attempting to revive the flagging career (and supervise the behavior of) an increasingly unstable Iggy Pop.This article about a biographical or autobiographical book is a stub.This page was last modified 23:26, 29 July 2007.All text is available under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License.Some people had already optioned it and written a couple of screenplays from it.Most recently Passion Films had bought the rights to it.They felt they should get to know me because I had talked to Danny a lot about his book, what was in it, and what was good from a film perspective.So Danny consulted with me on it.Then I became acquainted with the people at Passion who had the rights to the book as well as a screenplay that they had done.So the job that Fred and I had was to correct that.Yes, I think the other thing that helped us is I have a very good relationship with Danny and over the years he would talk to me about his time with Jim and The Doors and his time with Ray Manzarek.Doors it was Ray and Jim Morrison bumping into each other on Venice Beach.Danny was 16 or something like that.Jim and Danny at the Whisky.Wonderland Avenue is a careering autobiography of someone who wilfully, skilfully and enthusiastically abused all the cards that life dealt.Always going past the edge.However, he used the 'N' word as a daring ploy in that situation.Just look at the context of that situation.He started off by saying 'This is the man that deserves your respect!Jim loved the blues and jazz.Jim, the crazy, poet, artist kind of guy.He took Danny under his wing and coached him along.Doors and then of Iggy Pop.Danny can fit in with somebody like that.Jim and unfortunately that was a big shortcoming.Jim was very philosophical, and he was, like Brent said, nurturing and rather strict about Danny finishing school and hitting the books and introducing him to all the great authors and giving him many books to read.Reading was everything to Jim and it was his recommended way of acquiring knowledge.He was just going to a concert and of all people he sees Jim Morrison on stage dancing in that strobe light effect and to him it was mesmerizing.That had a consequence when Jim died.His career skyrocketed whether he liked it or not.Slowly but surely, like peeling an onion, Dr.Jim went through and here Danny picks up the baton and runs with it.Danny just deliberately and without any prejudice tested how far he could go with no limits and he survived.Wonderland Avenue is Danny's tale.Hollywood Wild Child who was just brilliant at being bad.His father had left when he was a youngster and then an abusive stepfather raised him.Finally Danny felt at home.Later on when Jim died Danny had this thing inside him that just continued the saga.When given two choices by Dr.Danny story, their love relationship and the meaningfulness of it.It was a very meaningful relationship for him.Wonderland Avenue' is not just a book.It's the rock n' roll saga.An authentic, true to life FEAR AND LOATHING in Los Angeles.Diverse is also trying to attach talent to the project, which will be either an actor or a director.Joe and other people that have known Danny.Anybody watching or reading this story will see a beginning, middle and end as it should be.Executives will certainly try to do their thing as usual but fortunately with Fred running the show that will be kept to a minimum.So will you be in the project to the very end?No One Here Gets Out Alive.Until then, Jim was kind of nowhere.But he and The Doors had a profound impact on music and poetry.The thing is Danny brought them back into our consciousness.This is a good spot to draw to a close.WONDERLAND AVENUE captures with ringing clarity and horrifying awareness.The absolute pinnacle of pop excess.We make a whole decent writer!There are some really good gems that Danny passed along.Are there any tidbits that aren't in the screenplay that you can tell us?Club Beats (Series 4 Volume 2) (2xCD)
