The band featured singer Poly Styrene (born Marian Joan Elliott) on vocals, Jak Airport (Jack Stafford) on guitars, Paul Dean on bass, Paul 'B.Hurding on drums, and Lora Logic (born Susan Whitby) on saxophone.Johnny Rotten's flat prior to a concert at Victoria Park. The song was not originally on the album, although later CD releases added it as the final track.Exhausted by touring, Poly Styrene left the band in 1979 to release a solo album, Translucence, before joining the Hare Krishna movement (as did Logic, who left the band aged 16 in 1977 to form a new group called Essential Logic).Without Styrene, the group lost its momentum and split up.The group disbanded, but subsequent releases include a compilation of the group's early records, a live album, and an anthology of all the aforementioned.BOFH: Oh Bondage, Up Yours! This page was last modified 08:31, 7 November 2007.All text is available under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License.Hurding (drums), Poly Styrene (vocals), and Paul Dean (bass)
Listen to a Real Audio clip of Oh Bondage, Up Yours!Ray Spex was a band which emphasized the lighter side of the UK punk movement.Surprisingly, despite becoming one of the quintessential punk catch phrases, the single never actually made any of the charts.Ray Spex went on to play at the Rock Against Racism rally in London on April 30, 1978.Poly and Lora joined the Hare Krishnas, renouncing the material world; Poly even attempted (unsuccessfully) to block the U.After that, little else was heard from them...Unfortunately, this version of the group did not include Poly, and according to a recent interview with Lora: "...They put that together with another singer and I played with them for a tour but you can't really have it without Poly."Before that, he was working at the BBC in Corporate and Public Relations.Corporate and Public Relations BBC Press Release issued by Corporate and Public Relations on August 13, 2004:
I am sorry to have to give you all the very sad news that Jack Stafford died in the early hours of this morning after a typically brave and determined fight against cancer for the past two and a half years. When he joined the BBC he first worked in Corporate Affairs then became Assistant Producer on the BBC's corporate websites working alongside Keith Jones.Ray Spex (with singer Poly Styrene). He was always fun to work with and we shall miss him.Moved Permanently
The document has moved here.No Christmas marathon this year.As you may have suspected, the Christmas Movie Marathon I mentioned at the end of the Halloween Movie Marathon is, sadly, not going to happen this year.I'm not much of a Will Smith fan, but I have to admit this looks intriguing.Between this, THE DARK KNIGHT, IRON MAN the movie about that Jones fellow with the whip and even the teleportation flick JUMPER, it could be a solid year for geek movies.Have you seen that trailer...And, of course, Jerry Lewis gets mentioned, too. Here's Adam Hughes beautifully evocative cover..."Crime Pays" storyline in dramatic fashion, then jumps right into the next big plot, where our gal Selina gets involved in a certain DCU event.Meanwhile, I almost forgot to mention that the AMAZONS ATTACK hardcover was due in comic book stores last week.As always, if you have any questions, comments or criticisms, feel free to air them here. That's what plants crave!Let me get this is one of the simplest, most elegantly designed blogs I've seen.THE IRON GIANT and SLING BLADE almost always make me cry a bit, no matter how many times I've seen them.In GIANT, it's at the end, when the robot says "Superman...SLING BLADE, it's when Karl gives the boy the bookmark that says "You Will Be Happy.""And they weren't screwed up, and neither were their kids").When I was in 10th grade biology class, some classroom film included a birth clip at the beginning and I almost passed out.Same thing happened years later in, of all places, Coney Island, when we saw a birth of a baby movie as the surprise payoff of a sideshow. The worst job I ever had was during the summer of 1987, when I earned money for college by working at a scrap yard. It's a tossup, but I'd give the prize to the sweltering July day my buddy and I were cleaning up an area and discovered the guard dog who'd been missing for six months, and apparently dead for five or so.Well, we found about half of him, anyway. And yes, we had to clean him up, too.I'm strangely fascinated by the movie VANILLA SKY, despite the fact that not only do I think it's a bad movie, it actually annoys me in virtually every scene. It annoys me, too, but in a slightly different way than the movie itself. But, like the movie, I read it every so often. One of my favorite books is CATCHER IN THE RYE.If you never read it, you should. There are a lot of swear words, if that helps.I'm sure I could've played with some bunch of slighly more talented slackers.I'd ever picked up a damn guitar!OK, so that's it for me.He died after being gradually, painfully ground down by several longtime illnesses, including diabetes and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a lung disease. When I was a kid in the mid 1970s, Evel Knievel was a big deal.Honestly, I have no idea, and sort of hope they do and sort of hope they don't.He crashed as often as not, had (by his own admission) quite the rap sheet and made outrageous statements like "America was down on its ass when I came along, and it needed somebody who was truthful and honest, somebody who would spill blood and break bones and suffer brain concussions, someone who wasn't phony."I'm guessing, still is) intensely appealing to boys.If Evel was starting his career now, it wouldn't work.He sat on a motorcycle, gunned the engine and rode up a ramp, hoping he'd have enough speed to clear whatever oddball obstacle was in front of him.Either way, he'd be on the news that night.Sure, we all know that the WATCHMEN movie could end up sucking, but if these shots from the set don't get your comic book geek juices flowing just a little, well then my friend, you don't have a soul.Or, for that matter, get to see Treasure Island, the store that sells those pirate comics and action figures that are all the rage...Notice the ad for Gunga Diner in the background?I'm just setting myself up for disappointment, but hopes are now officially (and tenatively) up for the movie. No, I haven't seen 300 yet), but I did like Zack Snyder's DAWN OF THE DEAD remake, and that's coming from a huge fan of the original. His heart's definitely in the right place on this movie, so who knows? But it's nice to see they're at least trying. All pics, by the way, are from the official Warner Bros. Here's where he spills his guts and wastes his time.Ray Spex Horror Movie Marathon: THE user to see through or into solid objects."Specs" is a truncation of the word spectacles (eyeglasses). The lenses consist of two layers of cardboard with a small hole about 6mm (.The vanes of the feathers are so close together that light is diffracted, causing the user to receive two slightly offset images.Ray Specs were long advertised with the slogan "See the bones in your hand, see through clothes!"Part or even most of the novelty value lies in provoking the object of the wearer's attentions.Wonder Tube worked in a similar way.It is currently a very expensive new technology, and is being tested for use in customs inspection, firefighting, search and rescue and medical imaging.Ray Specs sales catalog page at the3dmarket.All text is available under the terms of the GNU Free more. This didn't mean the songs were any less political; they simply attacked the zeitgeist from a different vantage point.Ray Spex, Translucence is quiet and jazzy in a way that anticipates the work of Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn in Everything But the Girl. It's a bit of a shock coming after Germ Free Adolescents, but it's a beautiful album, and Styrene's singing, though not as exciting and unhinged, is frequently stunning.Supertoejam does pictures and songs(NEW PICTURES!"Are you sure you want to delete this comment?"Benedictions for anIllustrious New Year!Galiza very influenced by 77
